Boot issue

Hello,

The last few weeks my rear boot open alert has been going off when driving. Checking the boot it is closed. However the push button under the boot doesn’t unlock it or even make the sound. However if I open the boot with the physical key, manipulate the latch and press the button under the boot whilst it’s open it does release the latch.

This resulted in a flat battery the other day as the rear boot light must be staying on.

I sprayed the latched with wd 40 the other week but no joy.

Anyone got any ideas?

The latch may be bad.
