E91 Interior 'clicking' noise

Since the car was new I got a clicking noise coming from inside the rear of the car, thought it might be the load space cover but it happens even if its open.

The clicking noise sounds like a micro switch clicking, if you know what I mean? It happens all the time on even the slightest bump in the road

Anyone else had this? I can't trace it and its driving me fucking crackers!!!

I've heard of the rear seatbelt buckles making noises when going over bumps etc - worth a look.

Do you have a panoramic roof?

I do and i often get a clicking / knocking noise from the roof lining that covers the glass when closed. When it happens i rest my hand on the rooflining and it stops.

typically it never does it when it goes to the dealer.

OP - yep, same here.

i notice it stops doing it when the boot is full of stuff and there's some pressure against the tailgate.

i've tried allsorts and cant trace it. now i've got some gummi plfege stuff from bmw to put on all the boot seals and rubber stops.

will try that tomorrow hopefully.

Dont have a panoramic roof, don't think its me hairs either!

Had a look at seatbelts, load cover and shaken everything to replicate the sound but still no joy.

Glad I'm not the only one doughboy although bet you're not! Will be interesting to know if you find it

Are all the tools secure, they can come loose and move around? Also check the LHS compartment to make sure it is shut properly.

Had many rattles from the back of the E91. Dealer had it about half a dozen times to try and sort them out. To be fair they got most of them, but it was never perfectly quiet.

Trim around the 'C' pillar needed to have anti-rattle tape (felt backed tape), as did a heap of the trim around the load bay. The cinic in me thinks that the installation of the Tracker might have had something to do with it.

The loudest and most annoying that is developed though was cured pretty easily... the rear plate adhesive failed on one side and it was slapping against the tailgate.

The roll cover was acknowledged as a source of rattles, but even with several different ones tried they never found one that was quiet.

My late 06 Touring does it but only occasionally and it's not intrusive - I have traced it to the N/S area around the parcel shelf and rear seat connector. For some reason it's all but gone since fitting a baby seat. Also padded the area slightly with a tiny bit of duct tape - seemed to pretty much sort it.

Also get a very occasional noise above my head (I have a sunroof) to the right - torx tightened the grab handles, checked the sunroof but can't find anything. It's very slight though and I now don't worry about it. Only seems to happen at low speeds on bumpy roads.
