E9X Blower motor recall: Anyone have luck with a free rental car?

My blower motor went out last night and when I checked the wiring, the problem was pretty obvious. Burn marks and a fully exposed wire. I plan to call the dealer in the morning and see if they can either A) Fix it now, or B) Give me a loaner until they can fix it.. Anyone have luck doing this? Will bmw make an exception to "We don't have the parts yet" if it looks bad enough? Are they required to do anything?

I just picked up my rental from my local dealer. I took my car in the airbag recall, and had them check the wiring. I had a short term loaner that day, and a longer loaner the next. You also store your car at your house. You just have to sign a waiver saying you wont drive your car after getting home. The rental is costing BMW over 2000/month.

I got a recall letter from BMW about this wiring problem. the letter says they will provide alternate transportation. I remember when i went in for the airbag recall, they did provide me a rental.

It probably depends on who your dealer uses for rental. I had the choice between an X3 and a a ram truck, that was a pretty easy choice.

It's under the glovebox. Just remove the two black torx screws and pull off the panel. This is the larger of the plugs that plugs into the blower resister(white plastic piece). Definitely worth checking

Just called BMW, they referred me to a local enterprise location and said enterprise would handle everything. Enterprise isn't open yet but I'll update when they are. Also stated they parts aren't avail. yet. No timeline for when, but the manufacturer would contact me when they are ready.

Update #1: Called enterprise and they took some basic info, said they would call the bmw SA to approve the rental. Then said I can pick up a 328i later today. I'll take it! I was dreading driving around in a Chevy spark for weeks. Also, I have to store my BMW and sign a waiver that I wont drive(and tell them the current mileage).

Update #2: Picked up the car and they didn't have the 328i so settled for an x3.

I had a rental for a little over a month, dealership called and said the replacement fix was in and they took care of the recall last week.

BMW (via Enterprise) put me in an F32 430i Msport.

I've been enjoying it for the past month, while m E90 330i sits cozy in my garage awaiting parts to arrive.

The process was super easy:

1)make the appointment at your local BMW dealer (let the know ahead of time you would like to keep your car at home)
2)sign the paperwork at the time of the appointment (they will verify mileage/etc)
3)drive you E9x home, and contact Enterprise to pick you up.

My dealership and SA was super helpful from the start.

What state? I don't think my dealer is too keen on this.

Here in Toronto they are flat-out refusing rental for the blower motor issue recall.
Anyone in GTA get a loaner for this?

My dealer in Texas initially did not want to do anything either. I called bmwnacc and told them I was concerned. They said no problem and the dealer should provide a rental car. I called the dealer back and told him that bmwnacc authorized a rental car and call them if there are problems. I had the rental car for almost 3 weeks, but no parts yet.

The dealer gave us directions on self storing the car, so it sits until they call us back.

What rental did you get? I think this is pretty important lol. I don't want to drive a camry while waiting for the parts.....

Going later this week to pick up the rental, apparently it's a full-size car and it's not a BMW I hope there's some chance I can negotiate for something better but we will see.

Will update!
