I'm just playing Devil's advocate here but if you're used to something taking X amount of time and it takes ~13% longer then it's possible that's noticeable. Even when it's such a small amount of time. The mind is good at identifying slight differences.
Edit: Although I'd be surprised if boost onset was consistent enough from pull to pull for that to be the case. Logs could prove that though. Last edited by lwgrenier; 07-09-2020 at 01:13 PM.. |

That said, this isn't exactly apples-to-apples, right? The 227.62 timestamp on stg 1 was in 3rd gear @ 2829rpm. The 98.17 in stg 2 log was 2nd gear @ 3225rpm. We all agree that starting RPM matters, right? Here's a run I just logged today where I started in low RPM in 2nd gear. https://datazap.me/u/slay/stage-2-75...ata=0-2-3-4-21 1051.31s @ 2250rpm -> -0.1 psi 1051.98s @ 2805rpm -> 5.9 psi 1052.47s @ 3336rpm -> 16.4 psi [Side Note / Mystery Bonus] Anyone know what the hell is going on from 1051.22 -> 1051.31? How did the RPM drop at full throttle with no torque limiter?! So in that same ~0.7 time span you posted above, I was able to build 6psi, as opposed to 13 or 18.6 like in your calculations above. I guess on the next run I'll log starting in 3rd gear at 2829rpm to have a fair comparison. Can we all agree that physics dictates these much-bigger-cores will take longer to fill up than stock? I don't know the core volume of the Competition HD 7.5", and neither does anybody else because VRSF fails to publish this info and also fails to answer customer support emails. Great company But their VRSF race 7.5" is 1080 cubic inches VS stock 425 cubic inches. That's 2.5x the volume air needs to fill before hitting the intake manifold. Quote:
One theory: everyone else put in their FMIC & DP at the same time. I rode around on just the DP, getting used to quick spool. Maybe that's why the difference feels so stark to me? |

I agree its not the fairest comparison considering the different gears and maps but.... you did make 5.4 more psi in almost the same amount of time on the second run.
In the most recent log, your WGDC takes 1.09 seconds to close compared to almost half that in the past logs. Did you change anything between that time? That can account for the lag you are feeling

Regarding WGDC, are you talking about the time to re-open the wastegates? So for WGDC to drop back down from 99? If so, isn't that a reflection of the fact that it takes longer to build boost? In other words, a symptom of boost lag and not a cause. Nothing else changed except the low starting RPM, so it now takes way longer to build up to max boost, thus keeping the wastegates closed longer. If you meant something else, please clarify the time range. I'm still waiting for Torgus to show me where my boost leak is. Last edited by slay2k; 07-09-2020 at 08:10 PM.. |

Installed the ARM 5" intercooler and i wasn't happy with the fitment results. In other YouTube videos I watched it seemed to fit better. What do you guys recommend I should replace it with that's not too pricey?

I have a 5” stepped g plus from eBay. The fitment required a slight trim of the plastic. I’d judge it sufficient for stage 1+...I can’t speak beyond that.

I ended up using a extra washer and a crush washer before tightening up the nut that holds the intercooler in place and it actually helped more. This was the third time i was messing around with it and finally found that satisfaction, but i will def look into a better and larger intercooler in the future when i decide to upgrade the turbos.

Wagner Evo1 v. VRSF HD 5''
I have been driving w Wagner Evo 1 (oem connectors) for some 2 years, although it was a progress over the series IC, the temps were surely rising during the pulls... direct swap to VRSF HD 5" was painless, all fit the same, provided hoses/clamps were ok, hold the boost, stay in place...
After some 1000 km later I am very happy w the change, car pulls much stronger... I know one could say that IC doesn't "give you" any extra HP but since it cools more, you get power that wasn't there before...

If you did then you needed a better / bigger or higher density intercooler. If you were not getting any timing drops, then you are making the same power with both intercoolers

Yes, there were timing corrections and IAT was rising almost linearly... I can not fit 7" or larger due to the ACC, hence this HD version solved it...
