Done a bit more digging and i'm now thinking it's not the ledges, mainly as I'm getting no error codes, vanos solenoids we spotless, and with the engine running if I take the oil filler cap off and put my ear over the filler I can't hear anything abnormal, there is defiantley a tap coming from somewhere though, I'm chainging a oil drain gasket on my rear turbo on sunday so I'll give it all a good going over from underneath.

So thankfully my death rattle was actually due to the fact one of the exhaust v band bolts had fallen out free fix
the BMW short shift kit I fitted at the same time is BRILLIANT, so much more precise gear changes.
The bad news though is that I now appear to only have 1/2 boost so Im going to have to get underneath again and check the vacuums and actuators

Fitted a reconditioned electric motor that drives the hydraulic pump for the fancy roof folding. That was unexpected!

Took the opportunity to replace the two salmon coloured switching relays also since one of them looked pretty corroded despite testing as ok on the bench.

I've got to fill with petrol too so expensive month!

No real expenditure through the summer, thankfully.

I've know since the car went for some recall work at BMW that the sump was leaking, it was evident when I replaced the plugs and coils that the valve cover gasket was not sealing and to round it off the oil filter housing was also wet with oil.

I've order up all the gaskets needed for the above parts to be replaced as well as new front drive belts, idlers and the auto tensioner, the car is booked in with PMP in Nuneaton on the 28th to have it all fitted along with a walnut clean of the inlet valves.

GASKETS, Idlers and auto tensioner from Autodoc £168
Sump bolts BMW £36

My 35i passed its mot yesterday with two advisories, chipped windscreen ( been like that for 4/5 years now) and offside anti roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated.
I will get it booked in with the guys that look after it & get it sorted.
So £45 for the mot & the usual fuel costs so far this month.

Because the government keep increasing it! Think yourself lucky my tax was £550!

Still my insurance was only £160 so I make a bit back on that.

Possibly a rear bumper for me this month or next, the missus decided to reverse down a tight little road so as she could drive straight out once she’d visited her friend instead of having to drive around in a loop to get back onto the main road when she left & reversed into a bollard...

Part of me thinks I’ll just leave it so she’s reminded of what a twat she is every time she see’s it.

Anyone changed their SE to a sport & have a rear SE bumper, preferably in silver that they’d sell me?

Just gas $.

Getting ready to switch my 2008 335i from State Farm to Hagerty "collectors" insurance.

This will save me about $300/yr but increase my covered value from about $5k (low KBB) to $17K agreed value (KBB plus mods) which is a pretty good deal. Already switched from State Farm to Hagerty "collector's" coverage for my 2002 MR2 which also reduced my coverage about $300/yr but increased my covered value from about $4k (low KBB) to $9K (high KBB/agreed value).

Going to transfer my 911 coverage in a few months from State Farm to Hagerty which should save me another $400-500 as well.

Just gone in for a service and some warranty work and a couple of bits not under warranty, so expecting a £3-400 'gift voucher' from BMW. Hopefully that will be all the niggles sorted so big decision then whether to sell or keep for another year.

I have a 2007 335i I have spent 2800.00 on camshaft ledges, timing kit, and high pressure fuel pump then about 2 weeks later another 850 on water pump, thermostats and a couple of cooling pipes.
