Strange oil leak

Hey guys, have a 170K mile n54 that FINALLY had the water pump give out on me so I tackled that along with a valve cover job since the car was down and I thought it was leaking oil all over the DP. Please note that 2 weeks ago the downpipes were DRY as I was replacing the gaskets and playing with the vband clamps.

Is there anywhere BESIDES a valve cover where oil can collect under the heat shield at the rear and literally "drip" down onto wastegate and further down onto the down pipe?

I made sure everything was clean, and still is, except for where the oil seems to be collecting and dripping down.

I'm attaching a pic where I rough drew where the oil has been seen dripping. Also note the *2 yellow marks near the middle of the valve cover bolt. **Somehow** 3-4 drops ended up being "sprayed" there from somewhere.

Possible to have blown a turbo cartridge or oil line somehow when the car initially had the water pump go out? The turbos DO have 170K on them and rattle quite a bit. But I just drove the car down the street a few times and no power problems there.

Sounds like the new VCG got folded. Pretty common.

Idk, I was pretty adamant on the gasket being seated in the surface of the new cover, and I was certainly cautious about it. But I'll let it go a day or 2 and see what we have.

Did you use an additional sealant like Ultra Black?
