Remapping question

So if I was to have a remapping done on my 318d M sport which has 143 bhp and it was upgraded to say about 190 would this 1. Affect my insurance and 2. Would it affect an MOT?
Thinking about having it done.

Garage List
Yes, you should notify your insurance, no it won’t affect mot

So does that mean it doesn't affect you car tax rate?

This has been done because of a smell in the cab and he's sure the DPF is blocked, when we plugged it in there were no codes at all. He said that was strange and we think someone has put a code killer in so that alarms are not being generated.

If the DPF was blocked your car would very sluggish. If the codes have been blocked and your DPF was blocked you would end up damaging the turbo.

Happened to my mates 320d when his wife drove it ignoring the DPF warning, she blew the turbo on the M25.

As for switching the EGR off, I've had this done as part of my remap. No noticeable difference in how the car drives or runs, but no crud coking up the inlet side of things.

have a read of this from someone who knows his onions,,my advice is try and contact him(jason) and if you can get your car to him then do it,,if not he can still remap it at a few locations around the country,,via a live link up and rolling road session etc..https://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum...tware-t474769/

Just contacted my insurance company and they would need to do it from a start again but they wanted an extra £639 for a year. Unbelievable charge although I have had a quote from Liverpool Victoria and they quoted £332 for the year.
What's other people's insurance like?
