I think most people that are getting the mods done to their cars know the risks associated with it, and if they're willing to accept that their warranty can or will be void, then all the power to them.

But I would like to hear Performance One's thoughts on this also.

I'm not talking about the ignorance of those who get things installed - it's up to them to educate themselves - but rather, the conflict between the subsidiary of a dealer installing mods that are guaranteed to void your warranty. It's obvious, hence their lack of response.

I don't see why the general public should exert any concern in Autowest's business or moral conflict. The money is out there, people who wanna mod their cars are clearly out there and I see no reason why, on a business perspective, Autowest should explain their business decision to the public. It's like, you clearly know that cigarettes can lead to cacners, but why is it available at every corner ? Same sh!t ! It's your choice to mod your car.

Only problem is you lose a whole day, so once you figure out the cost of gas and driving 450 km's round trip, plus the time, makes you think about saving a few hundred. For those of us who work, anyway (I suppose it's different for a student).

My experience with Autowest has been top notch! My car has always gone there fully modded with meth and never had issues. They even replaced my engine block due to a subframe issue where my belt pulleys hit the subframe and shredded getting sucked into the engine. All under warranty!

I was always honest with them and they looked after me! It's the guys that try to play dumb and 'claim' they have no mods that get in trouble.

+1, losing the whole day, approximately one whole tank of gas there and back ($70-80? depending if you gas here or states), exchange is at one of its all time highs for the past couple of years (around 1.12 when you do exchange at most major banks), and they USED to do it for $350 before tax, i believe its a touch bit more now, and WA tax is 10% or something). $700 tax in in canada is quite reasonable.

But then again, depends if you're gonna go for a states trip anyways, if you planned to go anyways then by all means take advantage of it, for myself, i dont like going to the states at all, the drive is quite boring, gotta avoid the rush hours (remember you gotta go EARLY so that they'll have enough time to get it done for the same day, which means you've gotta beat the morning traffic to Bellvue (so you gotta be there by like 7, past that, you'll be stuck in traffic for hours. So you;ve basically gotta leave Vancouver by 530 latest. I have done that once too late, the traffic is HORRID. I'll never want to do that ever again). I'll probably be calling Performance One soon xD Good Luck!

Hi,

I am interested in this. $700 which includes parts, labour, and tax is reasonable.

One question - would my BMS Oil Catch Can get in the way of your work? Please confirm that it is not a problem.

Thanks

Be careful guys, with going to BMW Bellevue. If you do, insist on before and after pictures. Read this horror story. It seems either they just used a chemical blast or barely did any blasting:

Wow... thats horrible for a stealership to steal xD

Besides that, i have a buddy of mine that experienced the same thing with an Audi dealership locally. Dropped car off for regular maintenance (oil change etc), left his dash cam on to record, tech just reset the computer, left it inside the shop for a while, and called him back for pick up later.

It's called fraud. Unbelievable.

That's the stuff you read about like when APA does their undercover operations for used car sales and stuff.

To have this stuff happen at a dealership is beyond excusable.

To be fair, they're called "stealerships" for their high prices on labour and parts, not because they can't be trusted and don't do the work and charge you for it anyway. That's always been my impression from the gripes people post.

Which Audi dealer was it BTW?

OT - I see in your sig you have my dream wagon! WOW! 2013 E63 AMG Wagon We've got a 2010 535 wagon, which is an awesome car, I'd love to have the E63 AWD maybe in a few years, if I could find a used one...

Pm'ed!

As for the E63 wagon, it is rear wheel drive only xD doesn't come with 4matic. Something i have always looked into is the B7 Audi S4 Avant which does come in manual transmission (i've always wanted manual transmission for EVERYTHING xD). The E63 is mighty and by far probably the best family hauler/road trip car. However, around town it is simply much too thirsty for fuel (similar to the E39 M5...). I think the 535 actually a better alternative to the E63 as well as the audi S4.

Thx for the insight. Size wise, the S4 is an A4, so it's too small for our family, which is why I didn't consider it, and looked at the 5 wagon and A6 only at the time, when I was buying two years ago.

The E wagon was nice, but did not have enough oomph as a 2011, and the 300 HP 2012 model I didn't want to drop so much coin on, brand new. I was looking for something lightly used and lucked out and found this gorgeous M package 2010 with only 20,000 km's on it. I love driving it and being tunable doesn't hurt either.

An almost 600 HP family wagon is another story though!

If you ever happen to be on Vancouver Island, Mark at VCM Auto told me he does this for $450 (that was just an informal discussion though). I went to the dealership and they quoted me $779.

If you want to try VCM, just be sure to call and book well in advance. They're a very popular shop (for all the right reasons) and are typically making bookings weeks ahead.
