yes it should, from what i recall it did for me. And if you bought it directly from V1 you should have the latest version, if not you can check the website and it will tell you whether it is old software ornot

agreed...I just went and looked at it, and while there are some blurry shots, I was able to clearly tell what needed to be done.

I wired my old (and now dead) passport this way.
From the post: Installing the hot wire to the green/white wire Installing the Ground Wire(PAIN) - Make sure to use the HEX bolt (left top corner - if you are sitting on the driver side) for the ground The hex bolt ground point is important otherwise the detector reboots when you open the sun roof. |

i think I am going to try the hard-wire tomorrow. Is it really difficult to pull the headliner down to run the power wire? BTW: this unit is very nice!!! |

I recall the same excitement when i got my first sweet radar detector some 20 years ago. The Cincinnati Microwave Passport. Mike Valentine was instrumental in the design of that product as well. Enjoy your new toy. V1 rocks. I'm on my 3rd and have been a happy owner of them since close to day 1 of Valentine Research.

good pics on installing, wiring and removing the FZD are here:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ighlight=radar ignore the bit about jamming the wire into the connector and *splice* it properly. |

I found the thread last night around 1:30 am. I went out to the car and took off the sun-visor bracket and the headliner came down and I released the tabs very easily. I am going to try and finish the job on my lunch break.
I think i am going to just splice the green wire w/ the white strip and make sure the connection is solid. I will also make a good ground connection and I shouldn't have the sunroof problems. |

Congrats on the purchase! We just got our 3rd v1 and hardwired it into the fusebox on my brother's 135i. I have done two fusebox installs (my 335xi and my bro's 135i) and one roof console (dad's e60 m5) and I still like the fusebox installs better, as they allow for plug and play removal for the dealer, even though it takes a little more work. Definitely post pics when you're done!

I took everything apart and I decided to run the hardwire into the fuse box. I just didnt like the idea of splicing that tiny little wire. I was thinking what would happenif I made a mistake and how much it would cost to repair at the dealer.
What materials do I need to do the fusebox hardwire? |

Good move. Fusebox hardwire FTW. You need just a micro add-a-fuse adapter from your local auto parts store. The v1 comes with I think a 2 amp fuse, and you use the 5 amp fuse from your homelink fuse to retain power to your mirror. It's a really easy install. I am able to do it in under 30 mins.
