I’m very interested in this unit, spent a good part of today reading through this topic! I have one question which I hope someone will be able to help me with.
My car is a 2012 with CIC 6” display,no Nav, no enhanced Bluetooth, no DAB. If I plug my Samsung Galaxy S8 into the USB under the armrest nothing happens. What I want to know is if I get this unit with the DAB module and USB hub, if I plug my phone into one of the USB ports will it play music through the audio system, display album artwork and be controllable via the I drive controller? I guess there is actually more than one question, sorry! Has anyone installed DAB, haven’t seen it mentioned, any thoughts? Mick |

I've got the factory Pro 8.8" screen in my car at the moment.
Am I right in thinking that when I fit the Avin the original screen is ever so slightly stretched and cropped when I'm in 'original car' mode? I'm hoping not - but most of the videos I've seen seem to look like that |

Idea for Sound Quality - USB sound card
All,
I have been trying to integrate a USB sound card (I have a creative labs sound card Play3 (better quality than any phone on the market)) into the system, basically I would have it plugged into USB on the avin unit and then it would be the output for that avin unit and then splice it into the 3.5mm aux jack/harness , this would give crystal clear quality using any application. Now the only Issue I am having is this, 4.4.4 on my tablet (I have an old tablet for MHD) Works with the sound card plug and play no questions asked, no issues now for some reason I cannot get the sound card to output anything with the AVIN unit, I have tried reconfiguring the sound config file after rooting the device but still no luck, anyone here have any ideas to integrate this into this android unit? BTW sound quality on the AVIN unit is complete garbage as I have harmon kardon stock. Currently what I do is use Carplay but then plug the AUX directly into my phone (using 2 cables is annoying but at least I get the best of both worlds) |

Im coming over from the xda thread.
I have been trying to find out who manufactures these units as I am interested in getting one of these for my E91. Even though the casing is different, the same gubbins is pretty much the same for all of these units. Im pretty much convinced that these guys are the manufacturers of these units now... http://inexelec.com/3-bmw-navigation-system/172713 http://alex.manufacturer.globalsourc...DVD-player.htm The global sources site lists more units than the Inex site. I have sent them a message to see if they produce the software updates for these. Im not expecting a reply though. |

AVINUSA
Hi All, Appreciate this thread has been open for some time but would like to provide some feedback on the AVINUSA F30 display 'upgrade' I received a couple of weeks ago. Where to begin... After receiving my head unit in a timely manner and receiving a prompt response to my first support question, everything has gone downhill. So, I have tried installing it myself (having done a few head unit installs before, it's all pretty straight forward). Everything connects up correctly but have some problems/questions they. just don't respond to - out of frustration, I brought it to a professional and they have the same key problem... THE DISPLAY IS NOT FITTING INTO IT'S PLACE. I have quadruple checked to ensure cables are not in the way however it just won't go fully back into the slot meaning I can't screw it into place (see pictures below). No cables seem to be blocking either however even though the front is flush, the rear is not in line with the car's dash (big gap on left, flush on right)... I also have a cable that was shipped with the unit but no idea what it's for (and Avin are no help). Can anyone advise? See below: cable.pdf Appreciate any help you could give - Surely there must be a way of making this work if other's aren't having a problem... Only other alternative is to return... |

Normally all car after production date (2014/04 or 2014/07) should have those unit I have used the bimmercode mobile app for coding 1) Check for display resolution either 10.25_1280x480 or 8.8_1280x480. Mine was already set to 10.25_1280x480 HU_ENTRYNAV2 > 3000HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 10.25_1280x480 2) Change display variante to brietes_display HU_ENTRYNAV2 > 3001EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE= brietes_display Wait for Idrive to reboot after coding 3) In factory setup (android side), Change CAN Type to F1/F2/..... 8.8 inch Enjoy your extended Idrive screen on the ARVIN unit. Coming from 6.5inch to use idrive menu in full screen on the unit was life changing. |

hi guys, does anyone know if there is a way to change the music app to something like poweramp? I know I could just install it but would like it linked to the main menu app instead of the standard player. Thanks

Need some help with a backup camera. Everything is installed and ready to go, but I'm not getting any power. I have "Aftermarket Camera" selected in the settings menu. I am only getting about .5 volts from the red 12+ Camera wire whether I'm in reverse or not. I checked the purple wire too just for fun, but no joy there either. Any ideas?

Install Problem
Sure, here are all the pics - I basically have it sitting in place (well as close as it it'll get) without it being screwed in :S

The curve of back cover will be inverted and the screen will then properly sit and fit |

I'll email them with the request. Sent a pretty short email to them last time (still not heard back from their support mind you) - hopefully they'll do good and follow up... I'll keep you posted! Otherwise all seems to be functioning as should however radio cuts out when going into android apps menu. |

If the radio didn't cut out , then if you were choosing a web radio app from the Android , you would hear two streams simultaneously . |

You need to put a relay on the reverse lights. The reverse light will trigger the relay, then the relay outs 12v to camera cable red wire/rca. Connect that red wire to the camera trigger wire on the Avin. I think that's the purple one, test it by supplying 12v to that wire, when it gets 12v, it opens the reverse camera interface.
Also, the Avin needs to be set to 360-deg camera, not aftermarket camera. There's some writeup here about it as well. http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/pri....php?t=1365839 |

The one i havent isnt an avin, but it has the purple wire you mention and a red reverse wire. I assumed when I got mine that the red camera wire on the unit would send 12v when the car was in reverse, getting that from the CANBUS, and would then switch to the camera interface. It did not. The red wire does nothing on mine, and the purple wire switches the unit to the camera interface when you supply 12v.
So that's how I ended up relaying off the reverse light, and getting power to the camera/trigger wire from the relay/battery. Did you try setting it to '360-degree' camera? |
