- are they as bright as stock?

- any computer error?

- did you have to use resistor packs?

I was able to find two listings for sets for the front... ships from the UK and will ship worldwide. Do an Ebay search for "BAU15S LED" and you should get two hits.

Excuse my ignorance on this, but, what's the big deal with LED indicator bulbs? I imagine they last longer, but, from what I have read (from searches) they aren't necessarily brighter...

This is probably the first lighting modification that caught my interest. I don't really care for the "blackline" tail lights. I was always more interested in the european tail lights with the red turning signals that flash amber.

As long as it doesn't give any strange warnings (i.e. bulb failure, etc), it seems like a worthwhile investment.

Just to clarify, which fit in the rear: n1156 or BAU15S?

I presume from your first post that n1156 fit.

According to his post, I think that is correct.

Why would you have amber lights when the tails are red? =S

It appears that no one has addressed the most important question: Will/has the modification cause(d) the car's computer to send off an error message? Before spending bongos and potentially screwing w/our ride we'd like to know. Thanks in advance.

Slugdriver is absolutely correct.

The LED's use so much less current that the BMW computer will think the bulb is burned out.

You have to put a Resistor in-line for EACH LED bulb in order to make the car think a regular bulb is in it.

And, the resistor gets very HOT. So, you have to attach it to a flat piece of car metal (away from anything that can melt or catch fire) to act as a heat sink to dissipate the heat the resistor gives off.

And, if you use it in a turn signal, you have to put a FLASH UNIT in in order to make it flash, because any flash units that use a heat circuit to cut the power on and off to create the flash won't work with LED's because they don't get hot.

So, although I'd love to have them until someone comes out with an LED that has a built-in resistor and heat sink (don't know if that's possible), I am going to pass on this.

Very nice design. Those LED's look just like the SnapLED's http://www.lumileds.com/products/line.cfm?lineId=5 I'm impressed on the design.

So rostik said that he just changed the actuall bulb, and the resistors
are inside the actual setup. So while I agree with what you said, the
way I understand his post, is that he only changed the bulbs and he
was good to go (and everything else was inside the bulb setup?).

rostik? Is that the case? And if so where did you get the bulbs from?

Ebay for bulbs

If you want to solder on resistor and afraid that it will heat up, USE TWO resistors, or one with higher Ohm rating!

Never knew that blacklines use bulb connector that is for front signal. I thought the diffrence is only smoked turn signal glass.

I don't know if it gives out any of the error messages, because I still have not connected front headlight, rear right tails, so computer shows all kinds of messages.

Why would you worry about it anyway if you know that LED will never burn out?

Because you have a message that pops up every time you start the car and the little exclamaition point inside the triangle will never go away.

Hopefully someone will figure out a way of diabling the car from monitoring certain channels rather than trying to up the current draw of each cheannel to fool it.
