Navigation weirdness
Hey guys, so every now and then i notice the navigation in my car having some strange quirks. Has anyone else had these types of things happen? Is there a fix?
First off the more common of the 2 issues. Sometimes the roads and highways on the map will turn all jagged looking, like the pic below. I kinda notice it most often on long trips while using the navigation, but dunno if the fact that it's a long trip has anything to do with it. It will stay like this for several minutes and eventually go back to normal: Secondly, i've had this happen maybe about 5-10% of the time while navigating on the highway. The offramp preview pop up is supposed to come up on the right side of the split screen, but every once in a while (not often) it will for some reason pop up ON TOP of the map. See pic below: Anyone else ever experience these? My car's an 09 e91 LCI, btw.

I have never had these issues.... Don't think that's normal. You took good pics. I would show them to my BMW dealer.

Weird, if that (the 1st pic) was a map of NY I would say that is dead accurate!

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

The first photo looks to me like map data corruption. The second photo looks to me like your Professional Navigation (8.8" screen display) somehow is switching to the Business Navigation (6.5" screen display). There's no Business Navigation offered in the USA 3-Series.
Take those photos to your dealer; they need to either reflash your CIC or just replace it. This is a warranty issue. |

hmm, alright, guess i'll be making an appointment w/ the dealer sometime soon then. Got a few other small things to have taken care of as well, so would be a good time.
