Exclamation 2008 BMW 335I (3 light) ABS Issue

Hey new here, I got ran off the road about 2 months ago and it bent my driver side lower control arm. I got that replaced and everything seemed alright until about a month ago when my ABS lights started coming on but not always staying on. I have searched and read through the forums the last week or so and have seen that sometimes its the battery or possible steering angle sensor instead of the module, but never could really get to whether the people posting only had the warning codes (0x5DF0- pump motor faulty, 0x5DF1- Defective Pump Motor) alone or if they were like mine and had those two code along with code (0x5E40-Steering Angle Sensor Signal Implausible).
I'm hoping its not the module because I know how expensive that can be, its just weird it comes on sometimes and other times it stays off for awhile.

My question? Has anyone ever had these codes show up all at the same time... and what ended up fixing them??
I have drove it pretty hard with the lights off, and did the same with them on to see if there is a change, and I can't tell a huge difference, only thing is the pedal gets slightly softer with the lights on.

TO NOTE: when the lower control arm was bent those three lights lite up also.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Only had the SAS code which was caused by a bad battery. Try locking the wheel side to side. Hopefully it not the pump. pricey fix

*Update*
Went ahead and put some new brake pads and rotors on the car and changed both sensors. All pads still had life but produced too much brake dust so thought it was worth a try. Has been a week come tomorrow since I changed them and the brake pedal isn't soft anymore, and the codes have not returned, so fingers crossed that possibly it was either the brakes or the sensors.

I know this is an old thread but I have 3 lights issue after swapping drivetrain in from another car. So of course I had the sub frame and steering rack dropped out as well as everything else recently. I also just replaced all 4 rotors, sets of pads, and the 1 front and 1 rear brake pad sensors the other day but the lights are still on. Any idea if I forgot to attach something somewhere?

Do you mean scan the car? I looked for errors and cleared a few modules in INPA but the errors are still there. I also think I reset the brake wear in the cluster but it is not very intuitive.

Some of the codes I found were:

0X5DE1 - something about brake pad wear not initialized properly.

OX5DF0 - pump motor defective.

0X5DF1 - pump motor plug defective.

I think some of those codes can come from a low battery which I definitely did have I'm leaving the key on for a long time while doing other things. I also did that steering reset thing, where I turn the wheel all the way left and all the way right a couple times.

I only own this car a few days before taking it apart to swap another engine and transmission into it. I know it didn't have all three lights on before. right after doing the engine and transmission and driving in a couple times I also just swapped all four rotors, pad sets and the one front left and one rear right brake pad wear sensor. You would think everything would be perfect.

Try resetting the steering angle sensor.

I did the thing where you turn the wheel left and right a couple times is there another way to reset it? I definitely did have the steering rack dropped out at one time turn the engine swap.

You beat me with this. You might want to run it through ISTA. The turn it all the way left and right isn't a sure thing. And reset brake pad wear in the service menu. You can use Tool32 to reset steering angle sensor too.

I did the reset pad in the service menu in the dash. It's not very intuitive so it's hard to tell if both are reset. I followed instructions in a YouTube video and when I got to each selection I hit reset and then held reset. I went through it several times and the reset had a check box with a check in it when I went through it again. I assume that means it was reset.

I have not done anything in ISTA. I guess that is like INPA and can reset codes, etc?

If you have it, it's like a supercharged version of INPA. All in English, calculates test plans for correcting faults, resets CBS, SAS, DSC calibrations, etc. It blows INPA away for serious problem solving.

Hmmm, I need to use that next time. I think I downloaded everything months ago when I started this 335i project with the first car.

If you have it, once you use it you'll be hooked. I've learned to use it by hooking my car up and going through the various menu options and just playing around. INPA is still great for things that you want to do quickly, reading/clearing errors, read modules, UIF, etc.

And bimmergeeks.net has a pretty user friendly Rheingold (ISTA) install pkg if you want to try that.

I just went ahead and paid for a month of Mega so I could quickly download the whole thing. I hopefully will have time to try and mess with it tonight.

Thanks for the link to the steering angle calibration. One question, what does "make sure you have coded the DSC using NCS Expert" mean? Would that be adding DSC if your car didn't have it?
