$$$ Turbo replacement costs? frequency? warranty?
How much does it cost to replace the stock turbos?
-parts -labor How long do they last on average? Is it a DIY(top of the engine)? Are turbos covered under maintenance or the regular warranty? Last edited by blackrain21; 04-19-2008 at 07:17 PM.. |

Just for the record, a Mitsubishi Eclipse turbo(made by Mitsubishi) cost less than $500 through many internet sources, it gets better, the price given is for an upgrade turbo. The BMW turbo should not be expensive at all, it is just the matter of finding a good reputable source. my .2c |

It is about a $6000 job. With all the cats, about $14800.

Its actually listed for 1875 US dollars. If you replace it yourself hopefully this is the bulk of the cost. Link below.
Is the turbo covered under the power train or under the maintenance warranty? I ask because once I exceed 50k is the basic extended bmw warranty going to cover the turbos? Would I have to extend the maintenance too? http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...layCatalogid=0 My ride below 2004ci sport |

$1500 for those turbos is really too much...those should not cost more than $600 - $700....

Gosh, when my warranty's up in 3 years, i can't justify putting down 6k to replace the turbos on a car that'll be worth 15k.

I am very worried about this too. My waste-gates have issues and everything but the Turbos been replaced once before and just went through round two. I wonder if they will replace Turbos because the issue isn't going away. Really this could turn these cars into a really expensive proposition. This crap is really going to take a toll on used N54s and that will spill over to the N55 too. Seriously I wouldn't buy a used E9X, no thanks!
