Software updates for the e90 digital clusters.

Hello fellow Chinese digital cluster owners. Im starting this thread to spread some awareness about the digital clusters update files and protocols, so we can collect and share update files in one place.

As of now I found the files for dashboard update 1 and update 2 provided by BAVMODS here.

But when I was digging around I found a .bin file in the e60 forums here (NOT TESTED ON E90!) for updating the protocol version and fixing can bus communication issues such as incorrect mileage when scanning with ista and so on. The version from the person with the e60 after the update is 1293.VO2.L 2023/12/12 I am currently at 1302.V02.L 2023/8/9 which is a bit older Protokoll Version.

Factory codes:
0168 - Advanced fuel settings
0169 - Advanced customization settings
4321 - Update software

This is all I found currently, I am actively trying to find new files by contacting sellers and search the web. I hope this was a bit useful for you guys and I hope to see more people engaging in this topic.

A Google drive folder where I am collecting everything I find here. Updated 11/05/2024

I didn't say you will find more information but I just know there is more activity about it on that discord than what you would find here.

Also, it's not just about digital clusters, it's about Android headunits, custom launchers, custom CAN sniffer, general discussion and more.

Any chance I can get a discord invite?

I have one of these clusters and have been unsuccessful in getting the oil gauge to work correctly. I believe it is a software issue and have been looking for some support. Tried multiple updates and looking to see if anyone else had this issue.

I have a similar cluster which I bought from AliExpress Mekede. Does anyone know if this software will work with that one?
They all look the same.

I have this installed on my E90 320d. Few issues that I have seen so far
1. It messes up with the mileage (km/l) calculation and hence the range.
2. The fuel gauge had a problem, but that got fixed once I set the chassis to E. Not sure what is this option, but it does shrink the overall display by about 20% area.
3. It throws an error E716 when I scan using Bimmerlink.
4. Sometimes, it changes the temperature units from C to F. Not always, but it is annoying because my AC unit also shifts to "F"
5. Maintenance intervals have to be re-set and re-entered on this cluster. So that is not a major issue.

I think this link should work for more than one person to join the channels/server https://discord.gg/Ex8e6qE2eR

I just received my Mekede cluster and it is in Chinese. I can't navigate the configuration because all the menus are in Chinese. Anyone run into this? Do you have any suggestions? I'm not confident I will get direct consumer support from Mekede but I will reach out to them as well. Although I waited a month for this to arrive I will have to send this back if I can't figure this out. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I figured this out by watching a Youtube video of someone going through the menus in English and mirrored that movement. It takes enough effort to dial these in so to have it arrive in Chinese really takes the cake.

Thanks! Invite still works.

I just received a bin file from the Aliexpress shop I bought my cluster from.
I had 4 issues that the file is supposed to address.
1) Oil temp scaling was out. On my car 120C is normal running temp for oil. The cluster was scaled that 100 was normal, so my oil temp was running at 3/4 scale. which gave me a chill every time I looked at it.
2) Yellow and red markers on rpm was too low. 5800 and 6000, instead of 6800 and 7000.
3) It displayed a Dynamic Efficiency or something, always at 0%, guessing it's some hybrid value, and there wasn't a way to remove it.
4) The vehicle picture could be chosen, but its colour could not be changed. The option simply wasn't there.

So, I'll test the file today, and attach it here and in that discord if it works.

Got the bin file, but it only corrects the oil temperature display, not the other stuff.
Waiting on a new file.

I've learnt a bit more in the meantime. That is the bin file for my cluster that just scales oil temp to 120 in the center instead of 100.

But there's 2 versions of these clusters. The old type, ehich is what you see in all the youtube videos. They get updated with an encrypted zip file named dashboard.zip
And then there's the new type. That get's updated with a file called update.pkg

Mine is the latter. I don't know if that matters with the bin file or not.

Edit: tried to attach the bin directly, but it doesn't show up.
