Angry Evasive Motorsports WHAT A RIPOFF!

My buddy just bought e92 black matte kidney grills from these guys and received it in the mail last week. Upon opening it, one look at it you can tell that is NOT what's in the photo. So he contacted them, spoke to one guy (name will not be included) and that rep basically told my friend "What makes you think this is OEM for that price?". First of all, my buddy didn't think it was OEM, he just thought it was the same one I bought. Given that the price was hella cheap but it's about right for matte grills $62 bucks incl shipping. So my buddy emails them, another rep emails him back and basically says he's not getting his money back in full. The rep told him (my friend) "you can return it and we'll refund your payment minus 30% (restocking fee)". In another email that same rep said "Most aftermarket companies do not even accept returns." I actually know a lot of companies that if there is a valid reason, they'd rather have you return it so they don't get a bad rep.

Here are some photos, let the people decide.

This photo with two grills: the top one is the one from Evasive Motorsports and the bottom one is a spare I have.

I also included Evasive Motorsport's photo that is listed on their website for comparison. Hmm its kind of similar to MY grill which is in the photo above on the bottom???

You can compare it with this one that came in the mail. Wow look at those half circle type grooves in the curvature!

Evasive Motorsports' grills are two piece just like all others even OEM but the kicker is that the grill is on both pieces!!!

I would post the ad, not sure if it's allowed, but I'm sure it's easy to look up..

Cheers!

That sucks.. yeah for only 60 bucks the company should not have proceeded the way it did. I always look for reviews and comments on vendors before i buy. If theres none, i simply wont try. Goodluck on your buddy getting this resolved..

Bloody hell, that is just fucking unbelievable. Restocking fees on falsely advertised product is just total bullshit. Next time you should buy from JLmotoring instead. He's by far the most trust worthy vendor on the board here in socal

Yeah what they sent and what they have advertised doesn't seem the same. Nowhere on that page does it state that the picture is for illustration purposes only or that item shipped may not look exactly the same. The one showing on their site doesn't seem to have the same curvatures as the one shipped. 30%, shipping charges blah blah....but when items are misrepresented, that was 100% the seller's responsibility. Buyer should be refunded in full and the seller should cover return shipping costs at that.

I would just send it back and dispute the whole charge on my credit card.

He paid it through paypal, they will only "investigate" if it wasn't shipped (along those lines). He might try to see what else he can do.

Was it paypal funds or paid with c/c?, if c/c then he still can dispute it through his c/c. Hope he gets his money back.

Thanks, I hope so too because it's more principle now vs money.

There are always two sides to the story. I've been dealing with Evasive for the last 7 years and they've been nothing but stand up guys. I'd like to see the guys at Evasive chime in on this one.

It really doesn't sound like the way they would deal with a customer.

This is a misunderstanding. We've already talked to the customer and have offered a full refund. What happened was the manufacturer of the grills changed the design without telling us, so we were not clear on why the customer thought the item was different. The customer explained that the ones he got were two piece, but the old design was also two piece, so we were still unaware of the changed design. After we got an e-mail from the customer with photos, we realized what happened and called him immediately to offer a full refund. The boxes are prepackaged, and since we have been selling them for awhile without problems, we were not aware of the change until we saw photos. We will also contact the manufacturer to see why they changed the design. We have apologized for the inconvenience to the customer.

Great to hear it was resolved. I also have dealt with Evasive for numerous S2000 parts and have always been treated extremely well.
