So now I have to either buy them off them or look for a second hand set.

So: Can I install them as is and just connect them when I get them? Or will that through errors etc and more trouble than it's worth?

Also, Are all E87 / E90 Sports seat airbags the same, or some have different connectors etc??

Thanks!
I don't think so, you will always have an airbag red light error.

If you want one, I have a sport RH seat airbag for sale. PM me.

for the passenger side, is there a specific wire to activate head seat? or just connecting the 12V+ and short the 2 ground will work?

thanks,

How do you disconnect the harness under the seat?

I have removed the front passenger seat from my 2001 330 BMW, but cannot unconnect the harness, and I'm afraid I might break it. Is is a yellow connector plugged into a black connector

UPDATE: So I can confirm that E87 seats fit into an E90!

Seats (both original and replacement) have everything bar heating.

As a test, I just plugged them in with no modifications.

Driver side: No bolster or lumbar power. Movement Ok - havent tested memory.
Passenger side: Nothing worked. As per first page of this thread, I moved pin 9 to pin 4 - Everything now works, including bolsters & lumbar.

I'll tackle bolster and lumbar on the drivers side tomorrow.

How do you actually go about moving pins? (lumbar bolster only)

OK, so first of all, just making sure I got it right, i basically want to move PIN4 to PIN7 (my car and seat is after 3/2007) and PIN8 to PIN13 on the Car harness to get lumbar working. See my attachment.

How do i actually go about moving those? I realize i will have to take the Yellow protector off, but after that i dont really know what to do. Moving the wires? Adding little jumper ones? Anyone have photos of what they did?

Which this leads to another question, am i just moving the pins, or duplicating them, it seems the seat will still need a GND at PIN8 and 12v at PIN4 "used for seat module"

For my 2008 328 e90
Theres a black part of the yellow connecter, you pull that out a little bit. Then, keep wiggling and pull apart the yellow harness form the seat harness, You should notice that black tab move further and further out as the yellow plug comes out. Eventually it all pops out.

Dont know if that helps for your 01 though...

How did you move the pins on CAR harness?

I started installing the Passenger side, instead of changing the PIN on "Seat", i was easier for me to change the "CAR" so i swap 12V+ from pin#9 to pin#4 and Ground from pin#8 to pin#13 and got the seat moving (Front back, up down, tilt, etc)

Driver side:
Left it the way it is, did not work, moved pins from "CAR" just like passenger side 12V+ from pin#9 to Pin#4 and Pin#8 to pin#13, STILL DOESN"T WORK. then i kept 12V+ on PIN#4 and moved Grount back to PIN#8 STILL NO GO! looking at the seat i don't see a male for pin#9.

i just want to be able to move the seat so i can drive the car and get the bolts on. Can anyone give some advice?
Do you just pull out the wires from back of harness and push him back in other slot?

Now I really need help. I have tried to switch seats:

OLD: semi electric, side bolsters, heated
NEW: full electric, side bolsters, lumbar and heated

As I see new seats has "seat module" therefore pin1 and 5 is not required for heating. But also power cabel at pin 9 is missing. Anyway I have tried to connect the new seat to the car seat cable.

Positions, side bolsters, lumbar works fine. Excep the heating. Coz I dont connected K-CAN cabels for pin 2,3 . But after few seconds. The seat leveling/position stops works. But if i reset some of the Pin 2,3 it will start working again. So I guess the position stops working, coz the seat module has no comunication.

Now, questions:
1) Is it OK, that the new PASSANGER seat has only pin 4 and 7 as power cabel and not PIN 9?
2) From where should I connect the K-CAN cabel + - ? Can somebody give me some picture?
3) Will the heating works , if there will be still cabels for PIN 1 and 5 for the old heating?

passanger schema

seat module

new passanger seat

old passanger seat

idrive controller cabels

//edit:
So I was right , the position will not work until KCAN cables will be connected. But can somebody tell me which cables should I bridge from iDrive controller? just the green and orange?

The seat positioning wont work if K_CAN is not connected! Lumbar and side bolsters are working, but the positioning wont!
Just after connecting the K_CAN it worked ...

Seat heating is also working ... without coding
Memory buttons are working

Yes, the 2 wirings on the left side, green and orange, those 2 wires are twisted .
And you have to conect them on posion 2 and 3 from the big yellow conection, if you see the conection on the seat side, you will see the same colours (green/orange).
You only have to do that for the drivers seat.

I am little bit confused. PIN 2 is green cabel, and PIN 3 is green/orange cable.
But here is only Green and Orange. So I dont know how properly should I connect the cables. Green to Green, and then twist green with orange and connect to PIN 3?

I think I have to connect also passanger seat. coz the position will stop work without comunication.

Yes, that is correct.
Passengers seat has no memory, some seats have also a big black box, but as far I can see on the picture, your seat have a small box.

what is correct? yes i know that passanger seat has no memory. But the small black box is for the origin seat, the brown leader seat has big seat module. I've tried to connect the connector, but after few seconds the positioning stoped, coz no KCAN cabel was connected to the passanger seat.
