car won't start
2011 328i xdrive got a new battery and t won't start unless i jump start it idk what to do or what could be the problem.

Check your grounds. There are a couple in the engine bay, including one close to the driver-side wheel well that can get corroded and/or break. A quick test is to ground the engine to the chassis using jumper cables.

It could be the positive cable in the back where you install the battery, sometimes they misfired and it will prevent the car to turn on. It normally happens when the car gets into an accident.

It could be some sort of wiring issue within the car that is just draining your battery even when your car is off. (Yes i know this may seem obvious - hear me out).
The reason im saying this is that my wife had a civic with an electric door handle that kept draining the recently purchased battery (about 1 month in) and we couldnt start her car without having it jumpstarted - probably jumpstarted a total of 5 times before we went and got a new battery (which didnt resolve the issue). We finally took it to our mechanic who was able to diagnose the issue. But in this case, i'd say just bring it to a reputable mechnic asap so they can take a look into it. Just for piece of mind at least. Hopefully this helps a bit! |
