I just picked up my e93 from the shop after getting some BC coilovers and wheel spacers installed.

I immediately noticed some steering wheel vibration at 50+ mph. Is this normal? Do the coilovers have to set? Or is this a potential issue? The odometer is only +1 mile after I picked up the car, shouldn't the tech have test driven the car a bit before concluding it was good to go?

Was just looking for some info before I go back to the shop to get it squared away.

You probably have front end play, the wheel isn't torqued properly/evenly, or wheels not balanced. Regardless if it wasn't like that before, spacers amplify any issue.

Thanks for the reply, I had zero vibration before the spacers / coilovers were installed. I actually just got new brakes and wheel-bearings done on the front end.

Take the spacers and brake discs off, clean all mating surfaces (inc hub flange and wheel) very thoroughly, reassemble and torque correctly.

If that doesn't completely fix it, remove the spacers and test again.

If that fixes it, the spacers are poorly manufactured or designed.

What thickness are the spacers, out of interest?

Thanks for your reply Tambo. I'm running 5mm up front, 10mm in the back.

I went by the shop today and they informed me the front spacers installed were NOT hub-centric (which was a mistake). They are going to swap them out with hubcentric ones, and think that should resolve the issue.

They also said three of my wheels are slightly bent. I'm running 19 inch 313's (off a 335is). But I wasn't having any vibration with these prior to the coil over/spacer setup.

I don't think 5mm hubcentric spacers are possible. I think the minimum is more like 10mm. Non hubcentric spacers are garbage; I'd never fit them on a car of mine!

It’s the 5mm spacers. They will always have some amount of vibration. Take them off and I guarantee you it’s gone.

I went to 10mm hubcentric and almost all the vibration is gone.
