Pay the proper price for quality work. If the guy's willing to stand behind it with a lifetime warranty that says something. Sometimes you get what you pay for, especially with this type of work.
The dealership guy charges $600 but his work comes with a lifetime warranty.

I was debating between new wheels or paying to have them refinished, but since I like the look of the 162 I kept them and paid $130 to have the bent fronts straightened, and figured if that worked I'd pay another place to fix the curb rash. Well the bent wheels were never properly straightened and still vibrated though not as bad. I ended up buying a pair of professional refinished 18x8 wheels for $400. They literally were refinished to like-new condition and solved 99.9% of my front wheel vibration problem. I still have the old ones, I'm going to take them back to the same shop and have them fix their mistake then try and sell them cheap to recover some cost or maybe just give them away.

Even after doing all of this, I'm still thinking about buying new wheels. $600 to refinish your 284s is worth it if you really like the style and want to keep them, but for another $600 or so you can get brand new wheels (and sell the 284s to recover some of the cost).

There's a shop in Easton PA where I bought my remanufactured front wheels. If you're interested PM me and I'll share the info. They have a bunch of the 162s in stock for around $200 or so for the 8" and $250 for the 8.5" - this included shipping to LA. They can refinish your wheels too and might be able to cut you some deal. I'm extremely pleased with the quality too. I couldn't tell the difference between the ones I bought from them vs a brand new wheel from the factory.
Hey bro IDK if messages are going thru on here or not but I've PMd you a couple times.

Chicago streets? Save your money, those wheels look fine.

I like the look of the OEM wheels, I have style 285s on my 328i in similar condition as yours. I keep my car clean and take care of it, but it's a 12 year old BMW. You will be more pissed off if you shell out the money to refinish them or buy new Apex wheels and hit your first pothole. Might be worth hitting up ebay to see if you can find some cleaner ones.

I bought my 16" style 268's on ebay for $200 shipped. They came off a California car and were in perfect condition. Now my snow tire set is cleaner than my summer wheels haha.

At a difference of $15 a wheel I don't see how it makes sense not to get the remans and have an extra set, and not repros either, real OEM. Even at $50 a wheel I think I'd still do it.

When I bought my 2010 E91, the 16" OEM wheels on it were beat up from eight years and 119K miles. I did like the style but they were beat up and it needed new tires. I initially went with 18" ASA AR1s - a mesh style like the Apex you are looking at - with new run-flats (reasoning that it was a daily driver). But the pothole explosions were just too much with that set up. I decided to ditch the run-flats (I had gone away from run-flats on my C5 Corvette years ago) and go with 17" wheels. I went with a set of refinished Style 66s from Autorimshop.com for $270 each. I like staying with BMW wheels and the 17s are just the right size for this car and daily use.

Poke around on some of the refinisher/reseller sites and something not too much more expensive than what you would pay for refinishing your current set might appeal to you. Then you have the old ones as a spare/winter set.

Or keep an eye out for a good deal on the For Sale forum.

Of course, I don't particularly care for style of your OEM wheels so my advice/opinion is influenced by that. If you like them, refinishing would be the most cost effective route.

I mean, now that I think about it. My wheels aren't in that bad shape for the age. 12 years old and I mean yeah it's got a few curb rashes here and there but my dad's 8-year-old accords wheels are worse than my cars

Looks like someone just drove next to a curve for 8 miles straight

Update: Found a guy on offerup that can repair and refinish my wheels for $200 and he's giving me a 1-year warranty.

I asked him how he'll repair the wheels? He said he'll fill them up, sand them down and repaint them. He'll be coming to my house so I can see what he does anyways. But first, need some tires.

I would have them spun on a balancer to check for straightness, though. Those spun aluminum barrels are super soft.

Mosaud, wheels are one of the most expensive commonly upgraded car parts. 1k is not a lot for a good set.
