N57 glow plug harness on M57?

Anyone know if the N57 glow plug harness will fit an M57? Seems the M57 wires are only available as part of the complete loom...

Double check me on this, but I don't believe they are interchangeable. The wiring diagrams on newtis.info show that on the N57 there is an interim connector (X2335) between the glow plug module and the DDE which is not present on the M57 wiring. This explains why you are able to find the N57 harness as a separate part -- it can be separated from the complete engine loom, it appears that the M57 harness cannot.

What do you need an N57 glow plus harness for anyway? Break the tabs on the big 12-pin connector?

Thanks guys, I didn't think it would work, but wanted to check anyhow. Realoem certainly only lists the separate part for N57 engines only too.

I've never had all 6 plugs working in my car. When I bought it, only 1 (cyl 5) worked (or at least showed no code). I figured that meant the controller was OK, so I went and replaced all 6 plugs. Cyl 1 didn't work right from the off. It was summer though, so I didn't bother touching it again. Some 15k miles later, cyl 1, 2, and 5 are throwing codes. So I'm now wondering if maybe the harness/connectors are bad, or the controller, or just 1x bad luck and a handful of poor plugs? They were genuine Bosch items, though I bought them new old stock on eBay.

I think the answer is just get 6 new plugs from a reputable supplier.

What brand do people recommend? Beru, Bosch, NGK, other?

Cheers

So you've never replaced the controller? I would start there -- it's the most failure prone component.

Can it be the cause even if some of the plugs are still working (or at least not throwing codes)?

Yes. I had a glow plug fault (one glow plug fault for one glow plug) - it was the controller.

Original glow plugs, 190k miles.

Beru controllers generally OK? I assume they're OE?
