The wife dinged my car!

It's inevitable. My wife comes back today and tells me don't worry, just come down and look at the car, it's nothing major. Of course I start flipping out -- I've had my new car all of 6 weeks.

She scraped the bumper on one of those yellow poles, and the paint came off on the bumper. I have to get the paint off to see how badly it's scratched underneath. Any suggestions what to do next? Varsol? Take it to a collision shop? Detailer?

Anyone with previous experience, help a brother out. I'm sick about it!

BTW, I'm in downtown Toronto.

I'm speechless, but remember as much as we love our cars, out wifes still let us buy them.

If your car's paint isn't scratched, you should be able to get the yellow out.

I'd say take that to a dealer or a paint shop...sucks and all, but it really isn't that big of a deal no reason to "tear" your wife anything!

GL with the repairs! It will look good as new once it gets repainted/replaced!

just use acetone to remove the paint (put a small amount on a towel)...that'll remove those ugly paint, no point yelling at your wife

acetone was what we use when i was working at the Merc vehicle prep factory

Yeah, taking it quietly will get the bumper fixed just as quick, and earn you a whole pile of points with her!

I bet you're married, that's some great advice there. You should become a marriage counselor

I was about to scream just looking at that.. but looks like the bumper itself isn't dented. try wiping out the yellow paint carefully and if the paint isn't too deep, try the Quixx scratch remover. I recently got a pretty big door dent (thank God there was no dent) where I got a long white scratch on my car. But that thing really does its magic! If the paint damage is too severe.. then I guess it's off to the trustworthy bodyshop..

I feel sorry for some of you guys who seem very afraid of your wifes.

Give me a break.

I bet if a friend of yours did that to your car you would freak on them but since it's your wife you should sit there and make sure not to say something that might hurt her feelings.

please

you guys need to go to your wifes and ask for your balls back.
Make sure to be polite when asking you don't want to upset her.

Looks like you'll need a new bumper. It's probably not worth claiming insurance so just suck it up and pay for it.

See if my story will make you feel better:

Last year: I was out of town on the road and my cell phone rang - my wife hit the curb while negotiating a tight turn in a parking garage and damaged the left front winglet in my 530Xi M-Sport that was only 2 months old at that time. The whole front bumper had to be replaced.

This year: Two days after I took delivery of the brand new 335i convertible my wife decided to take it out to pick up the dry cleaning. When she came back there was a 2" long scrape on the edge of one of the rear wheels. She said she was busy trying to get re-aquianted with driving stick shift and hit a curb after she was cut off by a truck. Two days later there was a mysterious white scape mark on the passenger side mirror and at first she tried to blame it on me, then she said it must have been someone at work that did it while parking. The wheel is still waiting to be repaired and the mirror housing was repainted when I had the M-Tech body kit installed. A few day later there was a mysterious scape mark on the trunk emblem and I didn't bother to ask why.

And I am still married.
