The super expensive handbuilt M4-based hommage car is absolutely definitely going to be called "3.0 CSL" (This is not news, just an independent confirmation of something already reported elsewhere.)

It will use the S58 from the manual M3/M4 tuned to 560hp.

3.0 CSL will be produced for just a few months starting 11/22. It will be mostly configured like the M4 CSL but with manual transmission, several options (comfort access, parking sensors, electric seats) deleted, and original forged wheels in 20" front 21" rear sizes. It will not be available in the US.

As much as I'd love to say I'm excited, I can't because they are all spoken for and nobody will have the chance to see these in the flesh

They are all already sold and they were many hundreds of thousands of dollars. Absolutely no loss for the US.

It's not even a particularly unique car. You can buy a base m4, have a very reputable shop go to town on it, and still have enough money left over for a 911 gt3 and x7 alpina…

You are not wrong and probably what i'd done since i drive my cars, but the same base M4 modified will never fetch the same money after 5-10 years to the factory CSL that has been stored in a hermetically sealed chamber, the buyers for these are collectors and just prospecting this will be worth an absolute fortune in time.

I don't think this part is correct, from what we have read from insiders and other leaks this car will have a unique body and a possibly bespoke transmission including a transaxle located hybrid drivetrain….. not quite something a local performance shop can bolt on

Very cool! I didn't think the manual transmission/engine combo could handle that level of power from the factory. However, doing the math, and assuming the same 406 ft-lb limit on the MT, that would imply the 3.0 CSL needs to carry the 406 ft-lb of torque all the way up to 7250 rpm to generate 560hp. I imagine redline would be even higher, so this thing will scream! Alternatively, they'll need to go beyond their standard torque limit on the MT (possibly beefing it up?).

For comparison, the automatic M4 CSL has 543 hp at 6,250 rpm with peak torque of 479 lb-ft from 2,750 rpm to 5,950 rpm.

No better time than now

About bloody time! I feel the 3.0csl will add value to the brand which I think is much needed seen as it's competitors are constantly introducing special edition models. Expensive? Yes. Limited? Yes. But that's why it makes it even better. You dream or what you can't have boys.

Would rather have seen the M-Touring imported to N.A. but in typical fashion BMW fails to consider the US Market.

No, you just fail to buy wagons and your country has strict/different certification regulations that cost too much.

Lets try to be positive. From the money raised, theyll finally be able to hire new designers and make next generation cars much prettier.

This is probably more true than any of us who live in the States would care to believe….. IMHO…

Am I the only one that finds it infuriating that companies go to the trouble of building these incredible cars only to limit their availability and then sell them to people that will only MAYBE drive them to cars and coffee? They should be building to demand to ensure that they AREN'T collectible.

JMO, but it is a real issue. Porsche has the same problem with their GT cars.

I mentioned this weeks ago and that was based on a haunch. Then a BMW manager stated they may try coach building then I surmised they would build a CSL Hommage. But I didn't expect it to not be available in this market.

North America gets the XM for M's 50th birthday and won't arrive until 2023, but no G81 MTouring or 3.0CSL Hommage?

BMW and BMW North America continues to be on their bullsh*t. They really know how to take the "j" out of joy.
