My car is misfiring on cylinder 5.

Looks like my Italian index 1 injectors are going bye bye.

Yep. Index 1. I have a Jan 07 build so, the piezo fuel injectors were never recalled.

152,000 miles.....

At any rate, I know the cost of the BMW injectors has tripled in recent months.

I called this place. They have a 1 year warranty standard and you can buy 5 years & lifetime too.

These are brand new injectors with the couplers.

VDO - Siemens which is the part manufacturers for BMW for injectors.

The guy I talked to said they are index 12. I don't know which version I'll get, either version is better than what I had probably. I'll update you guys as to the exact part no., when get them. I'm paying $30.00 to get them overnight.

Looks like I'll be doing my homework, as to how to change these.

I have the Schwaben scan tool, so that's how I'll code them.

Stay tuned

https://m.buyautoparts.com/buynow/35-81218_6V

I'm 95% positive they are 079's, which are index 12 but before the newest update which is 937. The 937 was specifically made for the S63 motor but it will also work for the N54 because BMW took the 079 injector and updated it because of the continued problems with S63 motor.

Definitely keep us updated. I'm on original Index 1's as well (3/07 build date), so I'm interested in what you figure out.

You will have the vdo specific PN (A2C9521190280) they are the 079 OEM injectors. Look at the thread Feuer referred me to. People all had the same problem with the P/N and index being etched off as well as the bmw roundel

So, when you register the injector, you use that entire set of numbers & letters in black ink?

No, you use the 6 numbers on the left. There are a few DIYs around. I'm doing mine this weekend with the same VDO injectors

Gotcha. I just watched the video on using the Schwaben scanner to code the injectors. You use 6 numbers. That makes sense now.

Got the injectors today. They are 079 index 12. This doesn't bother me. The way I understand it, BMW took the 079 index 12 injector and upgraded it, in order to meet the needs of the S63 engine not the N54.

I went from index 1 to index 12. Yep, I had index 1 since I have a Jan 07 build. So, I had the early piezo injectors and they lasted 152,000 miles. [IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

I already installed them and coded them with the Schwaben scan tool.

I bought the VDO index 12, 079 injectors from Buy Auto Parts for $784. I purchased and additional lifetime warranty $196.00.

Below are some pics.

The first pic is of the old injectors. Pretty clean for 152,000 miles

The second pic is of one of the new injectors.

The last pic is the literature stating the part number. Notice "079".

Torque settings for the :
fuel line nuts is - 23nm (which should of course be tightened down & loosened up with a crows foot)
Black, reverse torx bolt that holds the injector brackets in place - 13nm

I ordered these to they didn't come with decouplers but still great price I did the authenticity check and they are genuine their is no guarantee they are index 12 but 079 should be 11 or 12 I would think since genuine they are index 12 I tried everything to read the blacked out area but couldn't lol

Nice - so, I have gear oil and special internal filter on mine.

I think it would come in handy if you went one 500hp.

The S63 I think is in that range

http://mywikimotors.com/bmw-s63/

Probably why they had to do the update for this particular motor. It was smart of their part to take an injector that works very well (after 12 revisions LoL) and just upgrade it for the S63.

I've got them too (3/07 build date). No signs of leaking. I'm still chasing a 30FF code that I've traced to the boost solenoids or the wastegates. New solenoids get here next week and then we'll know...

I hope the injectors keep on ticking (see what I did there?), because I really don't want to pay out the nose to replace them ATM.
