Frm to frm3 pre lci e90

Now I tried to find this answer but was having a really hard time. I understand the coding issue with changing production date, but the issue I have is with a production date of my car being 07/06, will I need to do any rewiring of the frm harness?

I don't believe you'll need any wiring changes. In fact with FRM3 you don't need to change the date in NCS like with FRM2. The FRM3 is smarter.

You'll still need to code it to default VO however.

I would change the production date in the CAS to 03/07 FIRST, before you write the Vin to it & update it in WinKFP. I'd then write the VO to it from the CAS's VO. Use FA write.

Then do this

To copy all VOs from CAS to NFRM you have to do these steps:

1) Start NCSEXPERT
2) Load Expert Mode
3) Press F1 VIN/ZCS/FA
4) Press F3 ZCS/FA f. ECU
5) Select your CHASSIS (E89 in your exmpale)
6) In this step you will see 3 options (CAS/NFRM/FRM) - Choose CAS and click OK
7) Your VIN should be determine now
8) Select F2 ENTER FA
9) VIN field will be automatically populated - Click OK
10) Now you can see all your VOs
11) Don't change anything, just click OK
12) Press F6 (BACK)
13) Press F4 (Process ECU)
14) Select NFRM
15) Press F2 (Change Job)
16) Select FA_WRITE
17) Press OK
18) Select F3 (Execute Job)

Your all VOs are now copied from CAS to NFRM.

19) Press F1 (Change ECU)
20) Select NFRM
21) Press F2 (Change Job)
22) Select SG_CODIEREN
23) Press F3 (Execute Job)

Awesome info. Thank you. I definitely understand this. So I don't have to do anything with the wires for a pre lci e90?

When I upgraded to an FRM3 on my 01/07 E90, the third (top) brake light didn't work. I know the FRM3 was coded correctly but I never got around to rewiring it.

MILLER335I bought it from me. Jeff, does your third brake light work?

I should actually has been specific. As to whether you need to make wiring changes it depends on your current setup.

You may need to change pins for the side fender turn signals, rear brake lights. Either way. It's not difficult.

Yes. But you need to simulate an FA date change in order to code the FRM2 (NFRM) to your default options.

You change the date code in the FA/VO but don't write it. Just go back and then code the NFRM.

I know this is probably a dumb question but when changing the frm module should the battery be disconnected? I changed my battery as it was having a hard time starting and ever since my windows for the front completely stopped working and codes in the frm show power relay failure for front drive and passenger window. I don't want that to happen to this module for some reason. Thanks for the help

I normally disconnect the negative terminal before performing work on the electrical system. It's up to you.

Follow the vids & directions I posted for you & you will be fine. It's usually a good idea to disconnect the negative terminal to the battery when working on the car & electrical items could be in the way or you are working with electrical items directly.

All done and works fine. Followed instructions. With the welcome lights my driver side is fine but when turning on how it ramps up the passenger side will flicker then stay solid and when turns off it will flicker then turn off. Sounds like my angel eye is bad. Have led rgb style.

Renner335i, did you have to do any of the rewirings? I'm about to change out my FRM to an FRM3 from another car. I'm using the Max with this part # 61356827064.
thanks

Hey, guys,
After I replaced my FRM3, my remote control no longer works.
Does anyone know the problem?
Chassis number is coded, vehicle order also. I've had the problem for 6 months already!
