Alpina flash, no gear indicator?

I just completed the Alpina TCU flash, but there are no D or S gear indicators (e.g. D1, D2). Does this mean that the flash was unsuccessful, and I should try again?

If a mod could move this to the tuning forum, that'd be great. Stupid new guy mistake...

When in regular drive mode you should see "D1,D2,D3" and so on indicating your gear. In sport mode with the car still making the shifts it'll read "S1-S6" indicating which gear your in. Once in sport mode and you initiate the gear changes it'll change to "M1-M6" if that makes sense.

This is what I expect after the Alpina flash, but I only see "D" and "S", as I always did.

Which flash did you try? And what cable did you use? And which tutorial did you follow?

Turns out I was doing it wrong. I just repeated the process, and it worked this time. Now, I feel like an idiot.
