I'll be getting home today to try flashing my car once again. Is there any other module I should attempt to flash with winkfp that could do less damage than flashing my ecu if it fails? It is an 07 Z4 but it has the msv70 and n52, like my 06 325i.
INPA works and I use a bimmergeeks cable on a Dell laptop with Windows 10 home fully updated. Lastly, if flashing other modules, do I re-enable the boot sector update that I disabled for the RSA Delete? BsuActive=OFF to ON Last edited by Mantraxalos; 10-02-2019 at 10:19 AM.. |

I just connected the laptop and switched Winkfp settings back to what other users had. I loaded up Winkfp and flashed in comfort mode the original zusb that was showing before my attempted unlock. 40 harrowing minutes later my car is back!
It's not the 3.0si but at least it's running again. If anyone has any other ideas about the rsa unlock please share. Thank you to those who responded and helped diagnose. |

I'm in the exact same situation on my 07 E90 323i in Japan.
I need a little help to understand how you've managed to get out of the situation. My car cranks but doesn't fire up. Thanks. |

you need to post the error messages you got when you attempted to flash it. you're using a decent cable and the latency is set correctly? What's your software/hardware environment? |

I do not have the screenshot of the message unfortunately, but I have the screenshot of inpa. I couldnt get any out of "read error" section as inpa does not recognise the DME at the moment. Yes I set the port number and such correctly. I'm running winkfp 5.3.1 on latest win10. |

you attempted it with the batch file?
open a command prompt window and run the batch file in there so you can see it's output. if you just double click on it the window closes when it's finished. as hass has said, the batch file is pretty foolproof, so we figure out why it doesn't work or you have to flash it all manually, which is a procedure best left explained by him. I'm assuming you read the instructions and made the needed settings changes and imported datens and have a working winkfp. https://www.bimmerlabs.com/help |

I think he's missing the calibration. it's reading the program version but the data reference is blank. He needs to flash a calibration that matches that program version.

Just like the others have stated. All I did was flash the factory dme file back on my Z4. It may have been the newest version back then, but it was whatever WINKFP recommended based on my ZUSB. With the Z4, I can't even tell you how I got the ZUSB because that option never shows up using INPA. I may have had an older version of INPA that actually displayed those numbers. To this day I've been hesitant to reflash because I cannot find the ZUSB again. So flashing would be a one way move. With the E90 that you have, the ZUSB should easily be found. Although now if the DME has been temporary corrupted/inaccessible I don't know if that imperative number can be displayed. Also, I don't know how compatible the 323i is with the 330i intake manifold upgrade. I believe those were intended for the USA market only where our 06 325i/07+ 328i have the same 3.0L engine as the 06 330i. Please keep us updated. I know we have many here who get pleasure helping others out on these cars that we love! |

Thanks for responding after 2 years! Yes I think I'm in similar situation but I cannot find the ZB number on winkfp therefore cannot revert it back to the original. Installing older version solved the issue in your case right? 323 came with 2.5l engine here in Japan, so my plan was to add small disa and make it 3 stage and overwrite the same with 325 tune files. I'm more of a mechanical oriented person so I'm still struggling with understanding all these but hopefully my E90 will run again soon. |

Try to use the INPA software to find the ZB. From what I remember you take that number and WINKFP will then determine what compatible file to update your dme firmware to. |

His flash didn't fail! He needs to flash a calibration. You can tell because the data field is blank, and it says (in German) that the data is not present. All he needs to do is download the calibration (stock tune) for MI20S, flash it, and it will work.

I'll eventually get to my Z4 and finish the upgrade. I've just been too busy and the car is in storage. |

If one doesn't match the MI20S program version (we don't have the 323i here, so I don't know for sure if it does, but I think it should), you can just download the program that matches the stock tune for your car, and the stock tune, and flash those the same way. The program goes first, then the calibration. |

As long as you remember the steps to get you back to stock, you should be able to experiment with the files and your settings a little more. Hass said on many occasions that it's really difficult to destroy the dme. For this reason I'll eventually get to solving it without worry. I just need to find my real ZB numbers again before any further attempts. Thanks for the update!
