Comfort Access stopped working have code.. need help.

Long time reader, first time posting:

2006 bmw 330i. With CA.

Comfort access:

Purchased vehicle from a buddy. Had to replace the heater core.
After I did that, I noticed my comfort access has quite working.

I did not unplug any of the interior Antennas ( the one under the stereo, or the one on the back of the center console.)

The fob takes a second to register for unlock when I approach the car from the front head on. But not when I approach from the truck head on or from the rear toward the back passenger seat. I click it and it automatically unlocks before I get to the car. When I approach from the hood to my driver door I am at the door standing there clicking and waiting for it to register to unlock.

I use to be able to use the ribs on the handle to lock and unlock but not anymore.
The same goes for when I try and start the car without the fob in the slot. Use to start without it having to be there.

I ran the codes with Foxwell NT510 and had:
A0AC CA: outside door handle
Passenger door
Aerials faulty

Could anyone shed light on what exactly I should be replacing?
I don’t want to go ordering more maybe parts and if it’s not the antenna under the stereo I would really like to not have to remove the Center console for a maybe.

Would this be an antenna in the door handle?
I only have one working fob at the moment.

My second fob had just arrived from BMW after I had misplaced the one fob I had for the car... ($345.00 in case anyone is wondering what it ran.)
I have yet to activate it to the new car. They said I would probably have to bring it to their dealership to have it programmed for the CA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Read the mashman chronicles starting at entry 13.
concerning keys.

Comfort access has many parts and a module.
If it works on one side of the car and not the other it's probably the handle.
Theory of operation is in the electrical links.
The first two of georges links are very valuable for working on these cars.

Standard Tools and Ista D are much better at diagnosing problems
and even providing guided troubleshooting in the case of Ista D than any
non commercial scanner and probably most of those to.

WOW! Thank you for the links! I nerd out a little on manuals and I appreciate you sharing those with me. Those actually might help answer some of the questions I had on the back burner. One issue at a time though.

I will turn my search towards replacing the handles. I do appreciate the information.
