Tire Pressure Changes from BMW

I got a 325i non-sport with 16' all seasons last June. The tire pressure recommendations in the owners manual and on the door jam said 29/36psi.

I just purchased another 325i. I noticed that the tire pressure recommendations from BMW in the new owners manual has now changed to 33/41psi (or some high number like this).

How can this be? Has BMW changed the recommendations? The tires and suspension haven't changed so how can the pressures be so much higher?

Anyone have the official word from BMW about this?

I know the USA did change thr reccomended pressures at some point ( each country has their own reccomended pressures )

Does the US just give a single figure like 29 for the front, or do they give a range like in Europe ( say front 2.1 to 2.8 )

Look on the door panel - this has the specific info for your car rather than the manual, which covers many cars and configurations.

He did look in the manual. He said the manual AND the door jam.

I find it interesting they revised the pressures upwards, because if anything I thought they would go down due to criticism about harsh ride. It would be good to know why this advice changed.

He didn´s say he looked on the door on the 2nd car. Hence my comment.

Tire pressure should very greatly depending on how many passengers or load you are carrying, as well as how fast you plan on going. It could range from 29-46psi, so look in your manual when you get a chance and see where you fall in.

DON'T USE THE MANUAL!!!

It is only printed once in a blue moon! The door jam sticker is updated regularly to suit the latest tyre types and model variants etc...

My door jam sticker caters for about half a dozen versions of THE SAME TYRE SIZE, you need to refer to the appropriate suffix i.e. 88Y or 90Y etc. then look at your planned vehicle loading.

I often read several conflicting arguments about proper tire pressure.

I set my pressure to diiferent tire scenarios:
- amount of pax load
- track meets
- winter of summer tires
- or just plain testing which pressure works best in getting +mpg and w/c suits my driving.

I say its all personal preference, use recommended as baseline guide.

Here is the scenario:

The door jam and the owners manual match on the 325 that I purchased last June (non-sp with 16' all-season).

The door jam and the owners manual match on the 325 that I just purchased (sp with 17' summer).

What doesn't match is the new owner's manual with the old door jam. The pressures for the same 16' non-sp all-season tires have gone up significantly in the new owners manual. It does not match the old owner's manual. This makes me wonder if BMW has revised the recommendations.

Can someone check the recommendations on the door panel on a recent build 325 with non-sp 16' tires?

One more clarification:

The tire pressures on the new 325 are very clear and have not changed.

What I am confused about is the tire pressures for my old 325 as it looks like BMW may have changed the recommendations.
