Wheels for performance performance purpose
I have a 2007 328i w/ ZSP and I'm looking to change my wheels (RFT aren't cutting it) I would still like to stay within the 17" range and width still around 8.0 to 8.5. (prefering still the 225 in the front and 255 in the back)does anyone have any suggestions on wheels??
I ask because doesn't it take more energy to rotate a bigger wheel? I mean I feel BMW has left their ZSP w/ 17's for a reason. and from what I hear, a lot of track heads w/ an e46 w/ ZHP actually take off their 18" wheels for 17" wheels for the track... Thanks to those that help me w/ this.

When i search the Kosei K1's and put my car model in, Kosei's aren't a choice for wheels... why?

The D-Force LTW5s are also great wheels. Light, strong,
http://store.bimmerworld.com/shared/...RowID=894&All= There are a few places that carry those wheels. I think bimmerforums had some kinda deal on them, I forget. |

It seems to me the Kosei do fit my e90 328! I really like the D-force LTW5s as well. I will still think on this while i finish up using the RFTs but at least I know what my 2 options are. I just like how the Kosei's are cheaper per wheel compared to the D-force. Both do weigh around the same too (just a bit lighter on the D-force).
does anyone know how much the stock BMW Styling 161 wheels weighed in at (w/out RFT) Thank you Shimshimhada and Todd Philly for your very helpful information. These 2 are really the only ones I'm looking at. and for the price, its unbeatable!

the 161s are heavy, esp. with the bridgestone RFT. I also have them. Any idea how the weight savings will effect acceleration and handling? Please post pics if anybody has Kosei's on an E90. Thanks!

couple of comments to OP...lighter is better..and 17s cost less than 18s and you get more varieties of tires you can use with 17s. I cannot use 17s because my front brakes at too big. :-)

Yea, go with the new LTW5 D-Force wheels.
We sell them, and they are great wheels. The nice thing about them is they come in a variety of sizes. They weigh in at 16 lbs for the 17s and 17/18 lbs for the 18s. -Don |

In the 8.5 and 9 inch widths with an ET of 40 (can't remember), you may run into some rubbing issues with the strut tube or adjustable collar if running coilovers and set to a low ride height.

K1's have been known to crack when tracked hard. It's light weight in part comes from the very thin spokes which is were some of the stress cracks have appeared at the juncture of the spoke and the rim.

Bringing this thread back....
I need to dream about next season. So let's talk wheel/tire setups again. I'm pretty set on downsizing to 17's for the wheels. I'm unsure about tires. Are folks running staggered? |

I ran non-staggered. Love em. 16.8 lbs a pop for the wheels ($165) and the tires aren't much more. A wheel/tire combo is cheaper than a single RFT. CAn't beat it. |

The LTW D-Force 17's are available in 8.5" and 9.0" widths. **********s only recommend up to 245 on the 8.5" and up to 255 on the 9.0".
Since leftcoastman is running 255 on 8.5" Kosei, I wonder if you could go even wider on 9.0" LTW's. |
