Go solid aluminium. No NVH. It is a nice upgrade.

Yeah? I was thinking about these poly inserts from Powerflex or these aluminum inserts from 034. Both look pretty easy to install without taking those whole subframe down.

Yeah me either... wallet will be sore for a while! I ended up ordering some new bump stops, dust boots, and upper/lower rear shocks mounts after some inspection today suggested that Iíd need them. Found my rear bump stops had basically disintegrated and the boots were cracked into pieces.

Yeah, that little stuff all adds up and then if you fall victim to mission creep (as I do) then all of a sudden you can be really far away from Ďjust $700í for shocks.

Make sure to look for lemforder and other OEMs where possible. $90 vs $23 for strut mounts that are the same part, etc.

Yeah I dug hard for cheap but acceptable replacements. Here’s what I ended up with:

Monroe Rear Upper Shock Mounts
Lemforder Rear Lower Shock Mounts
Rein rear bump stops/dust boots
BMW oem front bump stops and dust boots (couldn’t find a suitable non-oem replacement)

All totaled up to about $125. More than I wanted to spend but I want to do the job right. Hopefully I don’t find any surprises in the front upper mounts...

Nice! I just ordered some yellows for the rear of my car. The final plan is yellows with dinan springs. I ordered Polly upper mounts for the rear tool. I have the 034 inserts on the way for the rear subframe too and an m3 rear bad to get rid of the understeer on my xi

Nice! Iíll be curious to hear how the rear sway bar and subframe inserts work out for you. I installed the rear yellows this week and they are awesome - the rear is firm but not harsh and feels much more planted. I have mine set one full turn from full soft. I used Monroe upper mounts - after pulling out the foamy stock ones, I think poly or rubber mounts like the Monroeís are essential.

Iíll be working on the front struts this week... stay tuned for an update!

Good to hear. All my parts should be here this week so with some luck I'll be able to get the rear done this weekend

I didnít look at new pads but maybe I should.... Iíll be waiting on delivery of a few tools before digging into the front struts next weekend. Iím planning to reuse the oem springs but I do want to refresh whatever I can under there.

Yeah, these are tough bc it's so hard to tell if you need new ones until you're in there. any parts sellers have friendly return policies?

I AUTOX my E90 couple times now with SCCA and my setup was for a suitable daily that can do everything plus go to the canyons and feel some Gs. I used stock springs with Bilstein b4s and M3 upper and lower control arm. Its the best setup for comfort and retaining the oem handling of the e90s. I am going to try the HDs soon but im skeptical about the harshness of them.

Might as well do a brake fluid flush while you have the wheels off etc. Inspect the brakes/slides etc.

Finished installing the shocks and struts this weekend and can say the setup feels awesome. Iíve got the shocks adjusted about one full turn away from full-soft and the ride has firmed up significantly but is notably not harsh at all. It turns out that my OEM front shocks were definitely blown and while the rears seemed reasonably fine, Iím glad to have these upgrades at all the corners.

Most notably, dive and squat have significantly reduced, body roll is gone in normal driving, and the chassis is much more stable over bumps and cracks. I even inadvertently drove a muddy and rutted VT dirt road without issue.

The suspension feels exactly like I wanted - Iíd recommend the koni yellows/ stock springs setup to anyone wanting to firm things up without harshness. Will be glad to share install details if anyone is interested.

Thanks Torgus... sadly, but reasonably, no autox last weekend. At this point I'm hoping I get to drive at least once this summer.... fingers crossed.

Installed Whiteline rear subframe bushing on my wagon last weekend. Why on earth I waited so long I have no idea.

Great to hear about the new setup feeling good!

I'm running B12 pro kit (B8 shocks with Eibach sport springs) on my 07' 335i. I really like the way it handles and rides......firm, but not harsh. It's definitely not as plush as the oem suspension......and that's what I was wanting.

I got em but I'm waiting for the m3 rear bar so I can drop the sub frame once and be done. The bar should be here Thursday. Shipping times have gone to shit with the beer flu.
