you were supposed to notice the new wheels Coupes :

Interesting with the built engine at the moment, Tim is helping me chase some noise, it went from very clean logs to pulling lots of timing

So Tim, being the legend that he is, has sent me some logs with alot less timing and more fuel, but it's still doing it

We don't think it's actually detonation since it's still happening, I had lots of trouble getting my exhaust to fit, would line up the down pipes to miss the subframe but because my single mid pipe is a bit dodgy, it kept pulling them back towards the sub frame, so one option is that they're hitting and causing noise that the knock sensors are picking up

I'll have to have a good look around and see if anything else is loose, there's also a slight chance that as the engine has loosened up, the forged pistons, which are undersized are now causing enough noise (piston slap) to trigger the knock sensors

so lots of trouble shooting to do at the moment

I apologise Hoper for not mentioning the wheels. They look very good with the silver. What make and size are they? Chasing the cause of noise on these engines appears to be a common issue on all of the forums. On my E85 tune, I had a problem with this issue that I never solved and probably cost me top end speed down the strip. The first version of my new 98 RON tune looks very good but currently, it has only 18 psi boost.

Nah Socks, Tim has been tuning it remotely, numbers looked pretty good when he plugged it into his virtual dyno

need to find the cause of it pulling timing now, something that's shown up more recently, likely to be something loose that the knock sensors are picking up

Hi Coupes,
The wheels are Simmons, 19x8.5 and 19x9.5
Managed to fit 275 30 under the rear, only put 235 35 on the front

Simmons FR-1 Hyper dark if anyone wanted the model, offsets are 35 front and 40 rear

Playing around with Boost solenoids at the moment because I have a boost leak, got the crank angle sensor replaced as well & had my rear bearing cleaned out as it was triggering DSC, Flat Tyre and control systems alerts.

I think the ET40 offset on the rim is the key Phil. The Mickey Thompson SS Street radials that I run at the drags are 275 and don't foul anywhere. They are on rims with a ET44 offset.

Coupes is right, lots of checking and there's a bit of room on the inside, I almost went for 43 offset but settled on 40 and decided I'd roll the guards if they rubbed, but they fit

I find the tire selection, side wall profile etc has a lot to do with if a tire runs or not? Would love to put 275 on my car

Yep that's alot of tyre as a 45 series, and would also make the Speedo quite a bit out, although with your new gearbox that's probably already an issue you have to solve

Mine are 275 30 R19 and are Pirelli PZeros

My 235 35 R19 fronts scrape a tiny bit when backing out of the driveway with a fair amount of left lock, the tyre just touches the inner fender liner where the oil cooler vents are :
