Post Questions for the e90 headlights (orange/yellow part on the headlights)

Hi everyone,

I just got a 2008 bmw 328i and like to ask a quick question.

I'd like to replace the headlight (I guess it's a regular/standard?) that has the yellowish/orangish color on it to a plain white one (that doesn't have yellow color in it).

Where can I purchase it? and is it hard to DIY?

I apologize for the mess of calling it yellowish/orangish (Idk what it is called).

Can anyone help me with this?

These are most likely halogens.

Pre-LCI so you could use the Xenesis Tru-Match Bulbs.

http://www.bimmian.com/90/XEN/

I just ordered these for my LCI highs lows and fogs. Heard good things.

My bad, I didn't mean by the "headlights".

I meant by the yellow/orange FRAME that covers the headlights.

Sorry to mis-lead.

What do you call this?

and Where can I purchase?
Thanks again.

Question: are you talking about the ugly orange reflector on the side of the headlights that's sort of shaped like a V? Or are you talking about the color of the light coming from the headlights?

I THINK, don't quote me on this, that yellow is caused by the halogen bulb inside the headlight. Ergo, if you upgrade to an LED bulb, you will get rid of that "egg yolk" look. However, they may have put a yellowish diffuser over the front.

If these fit your model you would replace the lights with this http://www.highperformancebulbs.com/bmwpy5frtusi1.html

Otherwise I'm not sure they had a reflector on those models.

hope I not confusing the discussion, I'm trying to help it. If you look at the picture of my car in My Garage, there is an amber light cover (not a bulb) flush with each headlight cover. I have an e90 just like you, a 2007. I'm guessing you want to change that from amber to clear or something else.

I have xenon, but I think many of the pre-lci have this regardless

there is a DIY on this in the DIY section but it looked pretty aggressive for my taste and would be interested if there are solutions you can buy at a reasonable price

I think these are a little different than what you showed in the pic, but the general idea. There is a "sponsor for sale" section, including lighting, here:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=173
maybe there will be some other examples....i'm going to check it out later tonight

Ohhhhhh lol you meant the reflector, LOL we all thought lights. Anyways I don't think you can change that without getting a new headlight BUT you can get a reflector cover that is painted to the color of your car to hide the Orange.

I hate to revisit a old ass thread, but I want to get rid of that nasty orange reflector. And DO NOT want to just cover it with a sticker. They make some dope ass headlights for NON xenon cars. But I have xenons. Any solutions or ideas?

PS-ihave a 2007 bmw 335i msport
