Help!! No communication with ECU
Hi guys need urgent help
My car is a 2008 335i MT. FBO with MHD stage 2+ Was having smoking issues from the turbos Last week took the engine out replaced both turbos, oil pan gasket, both crnk seals, snd vacum lines. Nothing else was done. I disconnected the battery before starting the work. Reoved the DME connector. Pulled the engine out. Today finished assembly. Turned the engine over and it wouldn't start. I mean it cranks but doesn't start. And the water pump stays on. Scanned the car (MHD. and a high end tool) and there is no communication with the DME. Checked all connections. Hooked a battery charger (battery was dead) and still no good. I have fuel pressure in the fuel rail. Checked all fuses. Grounds. What would cause the DME to act like this (don't want to say fried) if nothing electrical was done to the car. Any ideas? I mean the car ran perfectly before the engine pullout. Thanks in advance Last edited by Vania335i; 05-11-2020 at 09:45 AM.. |

You've blew the MOFEST chips the first edition chips were rubbish, go with uprated chips, The MND80 was the first ECU the MND81 had all BMWs issues sorted. Happens with MHD's Stage 2+ maps as its a bit aggressive with the older ECU's

Thanks alot for the input... I'll check it out... but what would cause the MOFEST chips to blow while the engine is out... before disassembly there was no problem with the ECU. finished the repairs put the engine back in and connected ECU and BAM?

Solved.... talked to a guy who prograns csr keys... told me its a known issue... that the ecu needs to "relearn".. took the ECU to him... he hooked it up to some circuit... and 5 mins later the car was purring like a cat... even the MHD tune was retained... happy camper here...
