CIC should be CCC?

Hello All,

New to the forum as I just bought a 2006 330xi. As is did not know much, and still have lots to learn, I do have a question about the iDrive system of my new purchase. I looked up my VIN (WBVAD33536KL52096) it shows S609 - Professional. As you can see navigation is greyed out on the home screen of my iDrive. This lead me to further investigate and it seem the car should have a CCC iDrive but according to my research it seems to have a CIC unit it. Was looking to do an upgrade as it is, (Bluetooth, telephone. media streaming etc) just wondering how do I go about to see if the CCC to CIC retrofit that seem to have been done was done correctly and if I can squeeze more out of the retrofit? (Bluetooth, telephone. media streaming etc).

Looks like it has had somekind of retro fit.

Looks like you have a partial CIC retrofit (my guess is the original CCC died and they said screw it).

They did not change to the newer CIC controller and they did not do anything to get NAV working (either FSC codes or emulator) and my guess is they didn't do combox either. Its still a good starting point

Someone fitted a CIC into the car without properly coding it. You will need to learn how to code it yourself or have someone code it for you.

Just add on a Carplay/Android auto device and be done. It also allows for a backup camera.

What does the area under your trunk mat look like?
You may already have Bluetooth + iPod hardware in there. If not, PM me as I have the old MULF module from my 335i which I’d be happy to sell to you at a reasonable price.

You may also want to figure out what kind of retrofit you have as they can be a bit tricky to work with regarding the combox.
