Agreed. One of my fears is not the cost of replacing a tire, because I have tire insurance, but the wait of replacing a tire. To have the Bridgestone RFTs on backorder for, what, a year now? That's just ridiculous.

It took me 8 weeks of bugging multiple tire stores to finally get 1 235/35/18 RFT on customer allocation.
I had to show the shop my registration with the VIN and tell them which dealer the car was purchased from before Bridgestone would "allow" me to purchase ONE tire for $352 (including all shop fees).
I am will not be buying RFTs in the future.

You lucked out! I found one tire and it cost ~$450 just for the one tire!

I replaced me tires recently. The car had the Continental ContiSport Contact 2 (159 rims, 225/45/17). I wasn't satisfied so I tried to find RFTs to match from any other manufacturer. I like Michelins. They told me that the specific dimension is not yet available in the greek market. I look for Pirelli Euforias (need to purchase them). Finally I found Bridgestones (through the chief director of Bridgestone Greece whom happens to know). Price? 265 euros each. Cost for the 4 tires 1060 euros. Outrageous. The funny thing is that the 4 tires I bought were the last ones. BMW really should consider her policy on the RFTs. The BMW Greece told me that they could purchase the Bridgestones for me in the price of 300 euros each. I can say that I'm a little disapointed. Let's hope that this situation is about to change for the better.
