Interesting. I pick my e90 up tomorrow morning so interested in what exactly got replaced. After the pickup though it'll be right back into a shop for my vrsf DP install so won't really be able to notice any change in behavior.

You can still put it on map 0 when you get to the dealer. I read somewhere that map 0 can cause some fuel oscillation if driven hard but I have actually driven on map 0 for a whole day (forgot to switch it after I did some coding on my car) and it was perfectly fine. My appointment is coming up in a couple weeks and i'm debating on leaving it in there. My warranty has expired anyways so I don't care if they see it.

The only reason why I would potentially take it off is because I don't want some mechanic messing up my jb4 wiring or not plugging something back in, etc. I'm not sure what all gets taken off in order for them to get to the bolts but if they touch anything related to the jb4 and then plug the stock sensor back in or something like that, that could cause an issue.

I don't know exactly what work or how they replace the bolts but I know they took off the cowel to get to it. so they will definitely see the jb4 and if u r worried about them messing w it, then take it off for a piece of mind!

Yeah I couldn't care less if they see it but definitely don't want them to screw up the wiring. I guess it's worth it to pull it off for some peace of mind

My guess is that one of yours might have actually broken and they need to work on it a bit more tomorrow. Did they not call with an update towards the end of the day?

They've had mine for a week and four days now. However, they are also refinishing my front bumper and doing a spot of regular maintenance since it was due.

Yea my update was "keep the loaner they are not done yet and I do not want to rush them."

I am actually not to worried, if they break anything it is there problem anyway! I just can not stand to drive this new 320i around anymore.

Nothing to worry about, I'm sure they are just pulling bolt parts out of your engine somewhere and oil pan... And wherever else little bits might be... Like I said NOTHING to worry about!

I encourage anyone with this recall to get it done ASAP. I had one of the bolts snap off the exhaust and it ultimately blew up the entire engine. Car has been in the shop for 6 weeks now as they rebuild what happened because of this broken bolt !!

Just picked mine up this morning. Something I did notice though and possibly can be a placebo effect but the engine seems quieter than before. I use to have this tick tick noise from the engine bay and now I don't hear much at all.
All should here by the end of the day is the engine rev and turbo's spooling cause she's back in the shop to slap my VRSF DP. Cannot wait!! Oh and just filled with 6.5G of e85 and 9G of 93octane. ))

Is anyone having luck getting this repair done with a jb4 and or downpipe installed? Dealer here doesn't even want to touch the car until they are pulled off...

I took the JB4 off but left the DP on. If you close the exhaust
Valve and drive slowly they may not notice the DP. I definitely would not tell them

I just set JB4 to map 0 and brought it in. Not once have I had an issue at my dealer. But like someone said already it just depends on your dealer.

Just made my appointment to address the recall with my dealer. They are three weeks out though so it won't be fixed until later this month.

Thankfully, they gave me a 528.

Just scheduled my appointment for Oct 7th - they said its going to be done over night. Hell they even offered me to drop off the car tonight and pick it up in the morning if I didn't need a loaner but with less than a half hours notice I figured I didn't have enough time to pull the JB4 off and get the car to the dealership.

I didn't get a letter. I just check on the bmw website and says remedy not available. I took it into bmw anyways and they serviced it. But i'm not exactly sure what they did.
Mines 2011 335xi build is 04/11. on the papers i got back it says they replaced the vanos bolts, replaced 8 asa valve cover screw but that's a lie because it's my original asa valve cover screws. They are not new.
I replace the valve cover gasket a week before and I bet they just reused it as well.
They said they washed my car and gave it an inspection. Also a lie because I just washed my car and after I got it back there are finger prints and palms all over.

So in the end, i'm not sure what they really did. The only way would be to remove the valve cover just to see if the bolts were replaced. I heard the new bolts are no longer the security bolts that the originals were.

On papers it said that jobs would have cost a little over $600

I'm ranting so my sentences are not coherent.
