Service Engine Soon light on in accessory mode

My 335i has service engine soon light on constantly during accessory mode (press start button but didn't step on brake). When engine starts, the light goes off after 2 seconds. Is it normal or do I need to check engine?

Literally every single car does this.

The car is fully "on" but the engine isn't running. So to the computer it looks the same as a stalled engine.

If that's the case, shouldn't the check engine light be on instead of ses light?

Some cars have the yellow engine symbol, some cars have "service engine soon". It's one or the other and means the same thing.

US cars don't have a "check engine" light. SES light is the equivalent.

Mine did that I think had some fluid due for service. Reset reminder and went away. I do my fluids sooner than computer based so wasn't an issue just forgot to reset when I did it...
