I'm going to have a moan that they don't know when they will fix these two "safety" recalls and see if I can get a decent courtesy car for a wedding trip next week.

Might throw in that I'm looking at changing to a M135/140 too

No CC offered to me, just a lift to the local bus or train station.

Mine's recalled for both things, great!

When my Lexus IS250 was in for a recall, not only did Lexus provide a decent loan car, but they put £25 worth of petrol in my car as well.

Compare and contrast!

So! Got the 335i back, they have changed the battery terminal connection behind the glove box. They have checked the blower harness connection and they say there is no damage to it, ie signs of melting, discoloration etc but it will have to get changed when they have the part for it..... apparantly no parts in the UK for it yet. They will b on the blower when it is in stock for fitting☺

I just got a notification in the mail that I need to take my 335 in for a recall. I've done an MHD flash on my car. Does anyone know if doing a flash voids the recall? I know it can void warranty. Do I need to flash my ECU back to stock before I take it in?

No. Modification will not void a recall, it is a required safety recall.

Warranty work is completely different to a recall.

My experience wasn't a good one,

my 07' 335d went in for the heater plug cable/plug what ever modification, car fully working no issues bar 3 glow plugs which i knew about.

Get the car back after about 6 hours in the garage, my Idrive failed to boot, kept blinking white and then restarting, kicked up a fuss, they took the car in apparently cleared error codes and it was working again. Tryed to blame it on my 2016 maps dvd that was a copy. Took the car home and went out the next day and it was dead again.

I know the CCC's are known for going, but to try blame it on my maps disk that had been in the car for years with no issues was just bull, i think they spiked the CCC because the defo dint disconnect the battery when doing the work.

Anyway CCC is now fixed and working, only upside was they listend to me and didn't update my ECU as the car is mapped or wash the car as im a clean freak and couldn't bare to think them going over it!

Another mate had his LCI 335d in and they damaged the DAB antenna cable so if your in Aberdeen please think twice about using the main dealer ! there is another place that is approved for the repair !

Update from me....

I went to the Dealer ready to leave the car but the actual service manager said they need 2-3 days to do everything. the lady who booked me said 1 day. Part of the recalls he mentioned they will look at the condition of the timing chain and replace if they spot anything. This was surprising as reading the posts here on the timing chain issues on N43 if they can replace for free i be a happy bunny. not sure if there is issues with this engine but a sanity check on it is good. Is there anything i should ask them to do while they are in the area of timing chain etc??

Other thing they said was they do a software update which he said takes 4-6hrs i hope it doesn't break anything like above posts (i used the 2019 update maps i hope those do not get wiped or they cause a fuss over them).

But even then i am annoyed with them wasting my time today. Why didnt the booking person tell me it take 2-3 days now i have to wait until Feb!!!! grrr

Long, long ago in a land far away

My coils were done in February 2012 under defect code 0012230300. The recall at that time was for all E6X, E8X and E9X models with N43 and N53 engines with Bosch coils.

Doubt any dealer worth his salt would give you the time of day if you tried to get your coils replaced now!

Took my E91 in yesterday for the 2 recalls to be done. Idiots gave me a mini cooper D as a courtesy car with brakes that don't work. They will get a peace of my mind when I drop it back the eve to pick my car up.

Well at least you got a car, i went and they said the work be done by 4pm i went there they said they need the car for 2 days maybe 3. So i asked for a courtesy car they said they only have a M4 demonstrator which the manager won't approve for courtesy car

Bit tight of them m star lol

Got my car back, you cant tell any work has been done which is good. Was filthy when I gave it to them inside and out, now it's nice and clean and shiny, saved me £15 in the car wash, so happy with that. Glad it's done now.

according to the dealer they will.check timing chain as a precaution and replace. hence they allocate 3 days for customer for the 2 recalls. not sure if all dealers do this but me turning up and they not even telling me it be maybe 3 days and no car was a piss take.
if they did give me a m4 for 3 days I would of forgiven them lol

Think that's only for cars that have Timing chain issues, mines an M57 which don't usually suffer from it so it wasn't checked. It's the N47/57 engines I think that tend to have the timing chain issues.

I had the heater blower/fuse link recalls done recently, which includes heat shrinking a wrap on the new wiring. Found out when I gave the car a clean that the tech had melted my front passenger floor mat with his blow torch! Fair do's to the dealer though - they supplied a new set of mats f.o.c...
