M3 control arms kit for 335i... need more parts than thought?
I brought the new control arms to my mechanic to install today and he says I also needed to buy camber plates to install along with them since they're m3 parts and the plates are at least a few hundred extra. I never remembered reading about that for this upgrade. Do you guys know if it's necessary?

Well, if you want to try to maintain the stock suspension geometry then sure, you would need camber plates... but you don't want to maintain the stock suspension geometry, you want a little more camber, hence the reason you bought the M3 arms. Go back and tell him to put them in without camber plates.

Not a bad idea actually.

Yes. He's just trying to align to stock camber specs, not m3 camber specs. New arms have more camber. My kit did not include the headlight leveling bar. Needed to get one separately. If you have leveling headlights be aware of that.

You can mod and reuse your existing leveler (if car came with one) I have done plenty. If your mechanic is telling you different then they should not be working on you car and on cars in general, period! |
