Need a little help guys

Hey guys, I just got back from CnC to install some things and also did an oil change. They put 5W-30 instead of the recommended 10W-60. Will it do any harm to my engine?

CnC auto in Bellevue?

I would recommend not running that, BMW engines run heavier motor oil for a reason.

Yeah, CnC at bellevue a.k.a former CarNutz. So I need to change the oil again? Can I ask them to change to the correct oil?

on what car?

n54 engine should drink bmw 5w30 or equivalent.
10W-60 is for M3 which is bit thicker but i don't foresee any problem if you are gonna change your engine oil back to recommended oil after 5k miles or so since weather is not so extreme thesedays.

if they do it free of charge, sure, but it wouldn't do much damage if you are running it for short period of time. 5w30 is just thiner oil. unless you push your car to the limit, with this weather, i don't see much of problem. of course, if they do it for free, go for it...

sounds like they made mistake, so i don't see why they wouldn't honor your request...

. Called CnC last saturday and they told me that BMW is the one that told them to put 5W-30, so yeahh...

Yeah, I wouldn't believe that. Call BMW of Bellevue/Seattle yourself, have them print you out a copy and show it to them. They messed up, and if you don't change the oil, it can cause damage. M3 motors are super sensitive.
