New Member Help - M-Tech Front Adjustment?

Hello All,

Amazing site and great info. I'm hoping for some advice so I can join the ranks officially...

I'm hoping to pick up the e92, 335i below and found out the following. On the service record, there was a note that read something like "undetermined damage, not covered by warranty, 812 mi., insurance to pay $5,700". When I questioned the dealer, I found out that this is how the M-tech front bumper came to be on this car. Obviously some sort of damage from the prior owner.

I'm curious if I should be concerned about further damage beyond the surface. I'm guessing that since it was on the service record, the repair was done by BMW? It's also hard to tell by the photo, but in person the gap highlighted was uneven from side-to-side. The area of the bumper on the passenger side where the bumper meets the fender was also at a slightly lower level than the fender.

Should I push the dealer to adjust the bumper or is this more than an adjustment. They are also not a BMW dealer, but a dealer that only sells late model low mileage BMW's so I wonder if I'd be better off attempting the adjustment myself (I do like working on cars).

Any help would be appreciated... Sorry my first post is so long.

Thanks!

First determine whether it is the hood stoppers that are adjusted differently and that's why the gaps look different. Could take all of 10 sec to fix.

You could always ask your SA

Looks fine, I think you're manifesting a problem based on the paper work.

If you never knew the car was in an accident you probably wouldn't even have noticed it

Thanks for the input guys.

The picture is deceiving. In person it's far more noticeable which prompted the question (that and the fact that it was an mtech bumper).

I at least feel better that it's documented. Is it a safe assumption that BMW performed the work since it's on the BMW service record?

also, $5700 sounds like there was work done than just a new bumper. you should try and find out what else was damaged/replaced.

$5700 can rack up pretty quickly but it's definitely more than just the front bumper. I'd assume the headlights and maybe a couple fenders were replaced as well.

Sounds about right.

mtech bumper + paint = ~$1500
headlights = ~$2000
grill = $100
hood = $800
inspection + other labor + tax = 1300

Total: ~$5700
