Takes me less than an hour, if it takes you 4 hours or you charge 4 hours that's no concern of mine. Anyway, I haven't seen a reason to not give it a shot. I'll order one and get to the install whenever I have a free HOUR lol. I'll post a product review for better or worse for archives sake. |

Seriously. It's $200 in parts and a DIY. It's not like hes dropping $1k on some knockoff part plus double that in labor.
If OEM was actually good, sure, it might be risky - but OEM BMW plastic parts have proven to be unreliable (to say the least) with decades of history to back it up - so I think its a chance worth taking, personally. |

Wow, an hour after the cowl is removed? I think you would impress a lot of great tinkerers on here if you could really get this job completed in one hour after the cowl is removed.
So, since it will really take you a few hours start to finish, go ahead and save the Hundo and let everyone know how it works out for you. Good luck, I wouldn't want to do this job twice.

Also, what about all the carbon build up in the cover's pcv ports? Dont think that can be cleaned out in any way, and at 90k miles they'd likely be getting pretty clogged up. the great late robc had made a post on this a while back.

Let us know your impression of the valve cover when you put it on and how it works out for you. If it works out then great we all have another source for when ours goes. I did replace the leaking gasket on our 335i. Seems like it was about a 3 hour job or so taking my time.
It's not a tough job at all. Certainly not worth paying someone a thousand dollars especially if you are handy with tools. |

**UPDATE**
Went ahead and ordered one from the following ebay seller https://www.ebay.com/itm/Engine-Valv...53.m2749.l2649 Took about 3 weeks to arrive from China and was packed very well. Fully uncased in foam and included hardware and gasket. My Vargas Turbo PCV fit perfect which was odd because I actually had to shave the OEM PCV Cap just a little to get it in last year. I could take pictures but whats the point, with the exception of the OEM stickers and cracks it looks EXACTLY like OEM. So far I have 200 miles on it and all is well. I check every few days for leaks but haven't found any issues. Now for the "it came from China" bits: Shipping is slow. like i said 3 weeks. so dont be in a hurry. There where 2 plastic flakes about BB size from manufacturing I removed from the underside. they where hanging like tags so i cut them out and didnt find anymore. 1 bolt was actually the wrong size. Just one. it was too wide so i popped one out of my old cover and swapped it. other than the above, the install can be done by following your favorite DIY Thread.

Mine came with VC, Bolts, Gasket and PCV (which i replaced). I cant vouch for any other sellers product. If its not specifically listed you should try to ask the seller because I noticed a few that did not list all the items when i was shopping for mine.

another member weighed theirs and said his was heaver. I could not visually tell if it was thicker, but it did have a lower pitch when tapping on it. This could have to do with mileage on the oem unit making it brittle.

I sent my snake camera in over the Christmas break and its dry as a bone all the way around and in the plug gally. Im still daily driving and my commute pretty much hits the interstate within 5 minutes so im up to operating temps about as fast as one can get.
Weve had some cold nights in the teens but the car is normal in the garage with the exception of this week (letting company stay in my bay). So, its been surviving teens to operating temp cycles just fine so far. no leaks no cracks.
