Attention Guys Running Air Bags. Potentially Fatal
I would like to bring something up before someone get seriously hurt or killed.

Background: I've been running air bag suspensions in my car for almost a year. I diy the set up and they've been fine. In the rear I'm running the rear set up by Bag Riders with my BC strut and the Air House 1 bags. A few days ago as I was driving out of my drive way, my bag lost pressure and aired out. I thought the liine was loose but after jacking it up, i found a hole almost 1.5cm wide. I patched it up with tyre repair kit and managed to drive it home safely. This happened on the rear passenger side and they other side was still good.

I bought a set of Slammed Specialties RE5 bags as suggested by another forum member and got them replaced lastnight. When i took out the blown bag, i found that the bag was rubbing against a plastic clip holding the brake sensor line in place, which broke and left a sharp tip. When i took out the other side, THEY WERE ON THEIR WAY OUT TOO! the hole was developing and if I didnt chose to replace both of them, i would have been in deeper trouble.

These clips are directly behind your struct when facing the wheel of the car. and your bags are sitting in between the clip and the strut.

SO PLEASE CHECK IF THESE CLIPS HAVE BEEN REMOVED.

So you are saying the clip breaking is what cause the damage correct?

thats exactly what im trying to say. The clip are pretty stubborn. even when broken they wont fall off. i tried spending five mins trying to remove the broken pieces. i ended up using a lighter to melt it and pushed it back into the hole.

Gotcha...when I first go mine, I had my bag seated wrong, and it was rubbing against the strut which eventually rubbed a hole in the bag. So we all have had our issues haha. I'm glad you got it worked out and gave everyone the heads up.

i did my installation myself. Wiring should be straight foward if you follow the diagram.

1. disconnect the neg terminal on battery.
2. wire the compressor to the relay.
3. 12v goes to battery.
3. trigger goes to the pressure switch in the tank.
4. ground the ground wire.

test

basically it. Everything is basically straight forward install. Following the diagrams. The process can be anywhere from 6-8 hours if you are doing it by yourself.

I've had mine for over two years. I used to daily it when I first installed everything. But after having to have it sit up for other things I end up getting a new daily. So I don't daily it any more, but I drive it to all my events. I've even driven it to Miami which is a 14 hour drive from where I live.

Convince you not to sell.....well...I love the fact I can retain comfortable driving conditions with my air suspension. I raise the car to a SAFE and comfortable height while driving. And then at the same token I can take it to car shows and slam it and look as good if not better then the people around me. So its basically having the best of both worlds.

Installed Airlift performance kit last weekend. After installation and driving about 15 miles I am getting the following (I pulled this pic from 1addicts but i see DSC light on and exclamation mark; my brake light is in red bc of pad sensors)

Has anyone run into this after installation? Alignment did not fix this issue. After research I am guessing either speed sensors or SZL.

Thanks

actually had this same thing pop up on my dash not long ago as well. I don't believe it has anything to do with the air suspension. My local dealer said it was the switch unit behind the steering wheel. (#1 on this diagram http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=61_3088).

I had them do my front brakes and brake fluid and the lights have since gone away. I've had air on my car for at least a year.

Before you go changing that sensor, check your battery. I had this same thing going on and I got all kind of warnings. Took it to the shop and the battery had a bad cell which was causing all the warnings.

I'm assuming you had the battery tested to find this out? I attempted disconnecting the battery for 15min to see if this would clear the warnings but no luck.

Also, I heard cleaning the SZL has been a solution. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Oh no! You're referring to the hydro unit? But you had the ABS circle warning light instead of the "!" circle one like I have pictured? Because I dont have the yellow ABS letters in the dash either.
