Haven't received mine. 2010 335i? Feels like I should have received it already.

I believe the latest recall is only for cars with the sport steering wheel. Its airbag is different than the regular wheel.

Not unless the aftermarket wheel is in a box in the trunk with the OE wheel installed.

How do you expect them to fit an OEM airbag into an aftermarket wheel? That's even if they would consider doing it in the first place. Which they won't. No dealer technician in his right mind would touch it.

What do you think the odds are that they would put the new airbag in an m sport wheel and install it for me when I take it in for the recall? I have been considering getting the sport wheel for my wife's car and that might be a good excuse.

They will charge you for the wheel install unless you're a real good talker. Changing the bag is like a 30 second deal. Swapping the wheel takes a few minutes.

Oh nevermind then lol. I read somewhere it took 6 hours for the recall service but that must have been an exaggeration.

The steering wheel swap is super easy. Don't be afraid to do it yourself. I had no problem doing mine and I'm a newb.

This might explain why our 330i and 328xi, both with sport, have the recall and our 325i non-sport did not have a recall notice.

Haven't really seen anything that explains that the recall only affects sport steering wheels on the e90 chassis, although it does look like the airbags are different.

The government has a website for all recall notices:
http://www.nhtsa.gov/Vehicle+Safety/Recalls+&+Defects

You can enter your car's info and it will tell you how many recalls there are for your car.

No. My car was leased, then sold by BMW at auction to a non-BMW dealer, from whom I purchased the car.

Possible - it could be based on the serial numbers of the airbags themselves, e.g., there were some bad batches.

Your information is incorrect. "at least two deaths and 30 injuries in Honda vehicles" and "a total of at least 139 reported injuries across all automakers"

See this website:
http://blog.caranddriver.com/massive...cted-vehicles/

Also, Takata tried to conver it up and wouldn't even cooperate with government investigators. "NHTSA fined Takata $14,000 per day for not cooperating fully with the agency's investigation into the airbag problems." See http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/n...call/index.htm

The same link says "In June of 2015, Takata stated that it was aware of 88 ruptures in total: 67 on the driver’s side and 21 on the passenger’s side" further refuting your claim of "less than 20 injuries".

I am worried, I retrofitted the airbag.
I will be contacting NA to see if there anything they can do for me.

I haven't yet. I want me my new roundel! Also an airbag that doesn't put more holes in my face than naturally required. That too.

Oh frickin relax dude. So it's 139 out of 120,000,000 vehicles. My point is it is a very small risk, probably less risk than just defective airbags that do not light off in an accident. McDonald's kills more people per year than Takata airbags.

I got my letter in the mail this week. I got one for my E46 when this whole thing first started, contacted the dealer, but they said it'd be months before they'd have parts. It ended up being 4-5 months before it was replaced. Clearly, it's a high priority.
