Hardware? What hardware is needed that didn't already come with the car?
+1 for the yes, my winter wheels/tires were well balanced when I put them on the day after I got the car. |

Yeah...in Tireracks Inside Track magazine they explain what comes with a package...nothing special..all you need is a lug wrench 17mm and a torque wrench and you should be able to install yourself.

New lug bolts. Sometimes new centering rings.

since i'm far away from home at the moment and have no access to my regular tools, would something like this work for a one time install? they're cheap enough and i can toss them in the trunk afterwards for emergencies. http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/tools/tw605.jsp http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/tools/sockets.jsp |

You also need a breaker bar..to use with the 17mm socket. You cannot break lug bolts with a torque wrench. It is used only for tightening..not loosening.

We sell a pretty nice breaker if you don't have one, it's collapsable so I keep one in each vehicle. Its pretty cheap too

Don't forget wheel chucks (perhaps as fancy as a piece of wood) and a jack. The latter is better than trying to lift the car with your arm and the former is good for not getting crushed:
