CF bmw emblem fades on hood
So this is my second emblem thinking maybe the first one i bought was a knock off CF or just cheaply made. This is the second time its faded on my hood. I first thought maybe from the sun but none of my other ones that are also cf (wheels and trunk) have faded. I assume then its from the heat of the hood that makes the CF fade to a yellowish tone. has anyone else had this problem? Is there something i can do to prevent this? It does not make the car look nice. I think it looks great when its white and black CF but the white turns yellow! suggestions? thanks!

I think the clear coat on top of the CF does not have UV stability and is actually turning colors. Your wheel caps might not be direct sun (vertically positioned vs. flat) and will last a bit longer.

Try a different vender. I have CF roundels and do not have this issue. I also used to live in southern AZ.
I think I bought mine from http://sv-concepts.com/

I would just go back to OEM. I used to think changing the roundel was neat but now I like it better stock, and if fading is an issue then all the more reason to go OEM. Good luck

not sure if the carbon fiber on the emblems are real or not? but i know that real carbon fiber like my lip and roof spoiler and etc will fade over time if I dont wax it every so often.

Cheap Chinese BMW Emblems use ABS resin that is NOT UV stabilized
I'm believing that the cheap non-UV stabilized ABS Plastic, which it seems all Cheap Chinese BMW Emblems are made, is NOT UV RESISTANT. The Cheap Chinese emblem white section I had for the steering wheel yellowed just like the one in your picture. A quick Google search (after the fact) reveals that ABS is bound to fail. Sorry for sentence structure but you get the idea But do your investigation

Same problem with mine, but not that worried about it at this point. The trunk emblem hasn't faded (bought as a package deal) but I figure the high heat from the engine and constant sun made it fade.
