Disappointed with HAWK 5.0 fastroad pads

Hi guys
Back in may I had new rotors and new pads fitted to my E91 330d.
Rotors from Zimmermann and pads from HAWK.
Now after aprox 20.000 km, I had all pads changed. All worn out and the fronts cracking up and starting to come apart.
I mostly drive highway, aprox 80% of the mileage is done here so no stop/start traffic here.

After that experience I will not buy HAWK again.

How would you describe your brake usage when you say it's 80% highway? Light braking, or do you brake harder from higher speeds?

Just trying to help paint the right sort of picture for others to help. It doesn't sound right to me - brake pads shouldn't fall apart like this unless something has gone wrong with them, or they have been tortured beyond normal expected use - I doubt that.

There has been repeated beating of high speed braking. But I expect a product in this price range to handle that.
They were broken very gently an then used as intended with mostly high speed driving on the highway. Often running 150-180km/h and more. And sometimes there has been repeatedly braking from +200 to aprox 120.
I have always cooled down the last 10km of driving and never hold the car on the brakes at red light, cold or warm. So I would expect them to last more than aprox 20.000km.
Next time I will go for Ferodo 2500

Will have to see what others have to say. I generally don't brake hard since my setup is still OE and is good, but only to a point, and I don't want to ruin my disks especially. So typically my braking around town driving speeds is firm, but not excessive unless I have to avoid something etc. At highway speeds (we don't have the privilege of something like the Autobahn, so speed limit is 120km/h) I tend to only brake moderately, and at slightly higher than legal speeds I also try to avoid having to use my brakes. If I have the car driving on a nice B road, then I might "play" a little and then use the brakes a bit more to their potential, but even then, I try to be "compassionate".

We also have a speedlimit here at 130km/h but sometimes I go a little faster and therefore I need to be able to trust my brakes. The setup with Zimmermann disks and hawk pads was good when it lasted. Almost No fading after several 200-120 braking. But with only 20.000km it's not good enough

I have the same setup in the front with Stoptech rotor and nothing so far. But driving from 200+ down to 120 seems a lot.

Here in Canada, 200+ will bring you to jail and have the car towed.

Here we loose our drivers license at 160 + get a big fine.
Don't think the car will be confiscated. At least not the first time...

Why not just go with OEM for brakes on a street driven car?

Because they fade A LOT if used....if really used!!!
And there is A LOT of dust from OEM pads
