How many miles does your BMW have and what things have you replaced? What mileage? I am at 71k miles, replaced the valve cover gasket, all 6 ignition coils and (NGK) plugs oil pan gasket, oil filter housing gasket, rear shocks, front thrust arm bushings and the belt tensioner.

Currently at 156k - since 99k (it had a battery and a starter before I bought it in 2014):
-spark plugs
-1 coil
-Waterpump @130k (still original t-stat)
-belt tensioner
-uhhh....
-a few oil/filter changes?
-.......

I did do the VCG, but only because I was installing MILVs; the original wasn't leaking. Otherwise, I wouldn't have touched it. OFHG isn't leaking, but I assume one day I'll have to do it.

Otherwise, the only other failures on the car have been an angel eye bulb, the wiper relay ($15, it rains a lot here), and a flat tire.

Basically it's a total POS. Shoulda just got a 335i for $1000 more. 🙄

I replaced my serpentine belt and pulley and spark plugs as PM around 70k miles.

I did a valve cover gasket with MILV’s install. As part of that install I also replaced the valvetronic motor gasket, it ended up having to do that 2 more times within a year before I figured out how to install it so it doesn’t leak (RTV FTW lol)

I installed a new oil filter housing gasket as part of my oil cooler install around 80k miles and might have to put another one in soon cause I think I’m seeing some weeping there. (I’m at 105k miles now.)

I’m getting ready to do the water pump and coolant flush as PM cause like I said 105k miles now...

Basically if you take mod installs out and what I’ve done as PM my car has needed nothing at all except oil changes.

Recently bought a 07 E91 with 72k miles

Oil pan gasket was already done by PO.

Nothing was really having issues other than the ABS pump.

-74k miles: Replaced the pump unit only with a low mileage unit for $100, good as new.

-74k miles: AT filter and fluid change

-Preventative 78k: changed belt, tensioner and idler pulley

-Preventative 78k: changed WP, thermostat and several hoses

This is my 3rd N52 engine and seems like its going to be a keeper (Just cuz its an E91).

How hard was doing the water pump?

Not hard at all. Just messy as coolant will splash around.

Basic tools and bits with pre watching a couple YouTube clips, anyone should be able to knock it out.

Major maint. around 70k for me was VANOS, VCG, ECS, Plugs, Coils, Tensioner

But I'm certain the guy I bought it from wasn't meticulous with the upkeep.

At 70k the only thing it probably really needed was the tensioner.

VCG failing caused oil to get into the sockets and the ECS... I cleaned and flipped vanos to no avail
Like I said, I don't think the PO was very conscientious of the upkeep

Aside from blowing the new motor up, I had zero issues after the fact minus a freak failure of a braking component

Hahahahahaha

I had a motherfucker of a time changing the water pump in my car. Some of its was my own stupidity and laziness (tried to do it without taking the radiator fan/shroud out at first...ain't gonna come out that way you guys), but the other really hard thing was getting the damn hoses off without breaking anything, they were stuck on there really hard. Oh and yeah, I got coolant everywhere. Every. Fucking. Where.

If I were to do it again, I could probably knock it out in a couple hours, but it took me three nights straight of 5-6 hour sessions after work since it was my first time.

Just over 97,000 miles. Had the car since June last year. Other than the oil changes I've replaced the spark plugs with NGK iridium ones.
