Car randomly blowing smoke
So my piece of shit was blowing a load of smoke a month ago for about 15 seconds about six weeks ago. No CEL, drove fine, only at low speed at traffic lights. Happened again about two weeks ago, at 10am/h in a car park for about 30 seconds, you'd think a SWAT operation was going down. But car was fine afterwards and smoke doesn't come out again.
Car has catless DPs and iPE exhaust. Both times happened when valvetronic was open. Could it just be a large carbon deposit built up from the closed valve? I drive it closed most of the time. |

BEE it's a light grey, no blue. Even when I close it for ages and then open it up, I can't replicate the issue. But it'd be nice if you could try if you can be bothered.
If it was turbos/seals it wouldn't just blow smoke for 15-30 seconds I'd assume. It would be quite constant. |

froop I recall froop had blown seals on his oem turbos and he had a heap of smoke when going downhill under light load.
I cant see it being carbon buildup from your exhaust unfortunately Having said that you were going to buy new turbos anyway right |

The ipe eliminates the second cats, which blocks a lot of this on the n54 mate.
It's those missing second cats. |

The only reasons I got the iPE is because I live on a hill and have considerations for my neighbours at night and also cause I give my car to my dad a lot and he's old and doesn't like loud exhausts. |

Water and or condensation build up?, are you parked facing down hill ? Does this happen after rain by any chance or after washing your car.

I have this sometimes when the engine is cold and I come to a stop at a set of lights. Smoke pours out of the exhuast for about 10-20 seconds and travels past the car. I have no cats whatsoever.

I thought I didn't need them yet!! Was gonna wait it out for all the dust to settle in regards to RBs+ TFT, RB Evolution options or even ST..
I'm going on a holiday for five months, so I won't need the car. I'll be back in November so the car will be done by then, I hope! |

Ideally I would love to go with a ST option, but then again I hardly drive my car and an RB pushing close to 400KW should be more than enough!! (the ST setup wouldn't have to be pushed as hard to get the big power though...) |

Many people take long holidays and it's easy to achieve. It's just a matter of if they're willing to make sacrifices and compromises in life, It's not a matter of being cashed up or not.
Heck, anyone on this forum could just sell their beemer and drive a 92 corolla and be able to go on a two year holiday if the they wanted to Besides, Im doing it for a good cause! Doing the Mongol Rally raising raising money for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation |
